Nnajiugo Nwosu Explains How to Build Resilience as an Entrepreneur

Becoming an entrepreneur takes resilience and perseverance, especially in the face of failures and setbacks.

Nnajiugo Nwosu, the Senior VP of Chamco Projects and a businessman is familiar with this experience on his path to becoming an entrepreneur.

He says at the beginning of his journey to becoming an entrepreneur, “I’ve encountered disappointments from friends, strangers and family members.” Nevertheless, Nwosu stuck to his vision and became the thriving entrepreneur that he is today. The journey, however, was not without its own unique challenges.

“I always believed the doors would open someday if I remained positive,” says Nwosu.

In our interview with Nnajiugo Nwosu, we asked him how he cultivated the attitude and habits required of a successful entrepreneur.

He responded with, “It’s about building wisdom.” He went on to say, “It’s such a general term, but it encompasses trust and knowing how to navigate the world of business and the world of people.”

Another thing that Nwosu learned is how to cultivate a strong group of friends, business partners and colleagues. These people keep you on track and encourage you to pursue your vision as an entrepreneur. They are your backbone and help you remain strong and resilient among the many challenges faced by entrepreneurs.

Referencing his motivator/mentor, Steve Harvey, Nwosu says, “There is no way in this world, there is no way your true friends can be more than five – the five fingers on your one hand.”

Nwosu says the first time he heard that message, it really struck home.

“I wrapped my brain around all of my experiences and realized that from all the people that I knew – from elementary school to high school to college and to getting my master’s – I just couldn’t close my eyes and count up to five individuals I could say I truly trusted.”

“That was when I realized trust was truly the difference between life and death.”

Aside from acquiring this knowledge, Nwosu says that he also learned how to negotiate contracts, network, and keep clients happy.

He says it takes a certain level of skill to be able to build relationships and ensure that you are keeping your customers and clients happy without going beyond the boundaries of friendship or partnership.

“I learned that trust and the ability to network along with the skill of establishing partnerships that last a lifetime are extremely important. These are not things you learn in school, but only through experience in life and on your quest for success.”

Nnajiugo Nwosu has advice for budding entrepreneurs who want to make a difference in the world.

He says it’s like driving a car – you’re constantly looking out of the windshield and paying attention to what’s in front of you, and you’re only looking in the rearview mirror sometimes when it’s necessary.

“That’s how to navigate the world of entrepreneurship. Don’t just focus on the negatives and the nos.”

“All it takes is one yes, and once you have that yes, it changes everything.”
