It’s the most wonderful time of the year – Nope, I don’t mean yet another impending Thanksgiving or Christmas season, Dear and Constant Reader. Rather, I’m referring to the mucho anticipated announcements by the various and sundry networks of what precisely their viewership can look forward to watching on their respective boob tubes as we head into the midseason of network programming.
According to our Johnny on the Spot compatriots at The Hollywood Reporter, not a lot of seismic changes going forward with CBS and their just announced midseason scheduling: Sure, there’s an all-new season of Celebrity Big Brother to look forward to along with a requisite new medical drama entitled Good Sam, but other than that things are staying pretty status quo at the Columbia Broadcasting System. Hey, if it’s not broke, why fix it, right? Let’s break it down, shall we?

As for the network’s Monday, Tuesday and Thursday television lineups, expect the status quo to be maintained throughout the second half of the season. The trio of slates ae noted for consistently pulling in solid numbers and CBS can rightfully boast in having in its roster three of the most watched shows on primetime network television – NCIS: Hawai’i (which airs on Monday), FBI: International (Tuesdays) and Ghosts (haunting TV’s every Thursday).
The Amazing Race will celebrate its 33rd season (they don’t look a day over 20) with a two-hour extravaganza on January 5 which will serve as the lead-in to the lone new series premiering on the network midseason, Good Sam. This medical drama will be cozying up in the time slot previously held by CSI: Vegas which received a whittled down ten episode season (though word ‘round campfire has it as being a dark horse with a possible return in 2022-23).
This leaves one new series temporarily out in the cold at CBS – the comedy Smallwood which is sans a premiere date as of press time, though a little birdie tells us it’s probably got a berth for the spring CBS schedule.
There you have it, Ladies and Gents – All the news that’s fit to print! We’ll look forward to checking out the midseason best from CBS this coming Jauary!
