Hi Adam, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hiiii! I have been so great, yes of course and thank you for having me today!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Make You Mine”?
Honestly, it feels like this song just fell out of the heavens and into my brain one day in the form of a melody — I started jotting down lyrics, and the next thing I knew I had a full song in less than 30 minutes. I’ve always been drawn to the mystical and spiritual things in life, and I really wanted to dive into that as it pertains to attraction, in this song.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
We actually just recorded a live stripped down version of the song and are planning to release the video very soon!!
How was the recording and writing process?
You know, it’s so crazy to me the different lives songs have throughout the process from start to finish. When I wrote it, it was just a spooky melody driven song with a quiet acoustic guitar accompaniment. After sitting on it for almost a year, I played it again with fresh ears and heard the bigger disco inspired production that my producer, Nathan Cogan, helped dream up. It really ended up being a testimony for me, to never rush the process, good things come to those who wait.
What role does Nashville play in your music?
For my journey, Nashville is really the heart of it all. It’s where I cut my teeth and learned all of the hard truths about the music industry. It’s also where I have experienced many beautiful firsts, it’s the adrenaline rush of being where the dreamers are. Nashville will always be a special place to me.
Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
Muahaha *insert evil laugh* it most certainly does! I could not be more excited about the music I’m making right now. I’m having the most fun experimenting with all my favorite sounds and genres. Throwing them all in a blender and seeing what comes out.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
So I’m trying this new thing called patience… It’s new to me, and kind of how I mentioned earlier about trusting the process and not being in a rush, I’m really trying to make sure I have all of the right songs to tell the story of my next chapter. As of now we are looking at the spring of 2022, but we will certainly be releasing more singles between now and then! I’ve had some ideas for titles, but nothing has really stuck just yet, I’ll know it when it comes to me.
What else is happening next in Adam Mac’s world?
Right now I’m really excited to be writing songs everyday with some of my favorite collaborators in town and playing shows again. It’s so good to be back where the people are!
