INTERVIEW: Nigerian singer-songwriter 4Tunez

Hi 4Tunez, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

(Answer)

I’ve been very okay, thank you!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single ‘Melody’?

(Answer)

Well, Melody is obviously a love song with loads of energy and vibration, “you dey give melody” means you make me happy, and as an artist, it means you’re giving me melody to create music; that’s what genuine love is all about, your partner gives you strength to bring out the best of your potential.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

(Answer)

Some of my stories are fictional because they are all made up in my head. I could get inspired after watching movies, so let’s say melody is one of my fictional songs.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

(Answer)

Yes certainly, but that’s all left for my management to decide which song and when exactly.

The single comes off your new EP ‘Supernova’ – what’s the story behind the title?

(Answer)

You know as an upcoming artist, we go through a lot to get noticed. I’ve been putting out music as an indie artist since 2018, before I got signed. Supernova for me talks about how a star finally gets the opportunity to blow up, because that’s what it means literally; I believe it’s my time to take on the whole world.

How was the recording and writing process?

(Answer)

It was a wonderful experience creating the project, we had fun creating it also. I was comfortable around my team, and they made me believe to make the best out of this project

What role does Nigeria play in your music?

(Answer)

Growing up in Nigeria has actually, positively influenced my musical career. Nigeria is a multicultural country, and I’ve gotten to hear different sounds from all parts of the country, especially the eastern and western regions.

What were some of the life experiences you get to explore on this record?

(Answer)

Some of the songs are stories I’ve experienced personally and just a reflection of my life and past experiences, like the song “The Call” is a true story of my journey to stardom.

Where else did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

(Answer)

I literally just searched my soul, and I Listen to whatever my heart tells me to do

What else is happening next in 4Tunez’s world?

(Answer)

A lot for sure, I’m also a final year student, studying Environmental Education, and there is a lot more that’s about to happen, but let’s keep that a secret.
