Matt Muse Shares New Single, “Rapport” (feat. theMIND)

Today, Chicago-based hip-hop artist Matt Muse returns with a new single, “Rapport” (feat. theMIND). His first release since this spring’s double-single, “Rockin’” b/w “Bridges,” “Rapport” originated in the “Sixteenth Chapel” quarantine workshop series hosted by Muse and friends, where rappers and producers were each given 16 minutes to create a verse and beat as a way of keeping each other’s pens and production sharp during lockdown. Among the group was “Rapport” producer Berlo, whose beat quickly caught the attention of Muse. Immediately following, Muse took to his home studio to record before tapping theMIND to provide the song’s hook. “Rapport” is a joyous testament to Muse’s musical prowess, and a reminder to listeners to preserve through their own creative blocks.

Crediting Sixteenth Chapel with reinvigorating his passion for music, Muse’s excitement can be felt in the bounce of “Rapport.” Berlo’s production sets the stage for an upbeat romp, complete with a rhythmic high-hat sustained through the song. Keyboards join as Muse’s vocals enter, keeping heads bopping from start to finish. “Sing along with my mouth/ Feel it might touch your soul/ If so, then I just struck gold, Muse raps in a style distinct from his signature flow. Muse’s constant melody marks a first for him, but, when combined with the beautiful contributions from theMIND, listeners can’t help but feel reminded of their own capabilities in accomplishing their goals.
