INTERVIEW: Dave Reit

Hi Dave, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great, thanks for asking!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single, “Hiding”?

Of course! “Hiding” embodies a period of time in my life where I felt unloved and unsupported. Speaking my pain through music is my therapy and sharing it with the world gives me hope that I can help someone else through the same emotional struggle.

Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?

Nothing in particular. That day just showed me more of the same disappointing feelings I’ve unfortunately grown used to coming from my family.

What was it like to work with Futuristic, and what did he bring to the table?

It was awesome! We’re very like-minded in a lot of ways, so we vibed right away. He took a really creative approach on his piece: His verse embodies a message of positivity – almost coaching those through an emotional struggle. He brings awareness to self-worth with his lyrics.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

Yes. And I’m so excited for it. We shot the video together a few weeks back, and it’s all ready for one week after release day!

How was the recording and writing process?

Writing comes easily to me. As I feel into the music, the lyrics pour out of my soul. I recorded them with incredible producers Bingx and B Martin, who really helped pull out the feeling in the vocals.

Do you tend to take a different approach when collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?

No, I believe in music and where it leads me. Collaborating with incredible artists like Futuristic, Bingx, Chris Rivers, Xavier White, and B Martin gives me nothing but appreciation for the way music speaks through them.

What role does Bronx play in your music?

Where I grew up definitely influences the raw edginess of my tone/accent/pronunciation, but most of what I write about comes from the trials and tribulations I’ve endured since I left.

Does the new single mean we can expect new material –how’s that coming along?

Yes! OMG, our team has so much music coming your way. At this point, I believe we have a release scheduled nearly every week for the next six months. So much exciting music I’m elated to share with all of you!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Well, if we’re talking album, then no release date yet. Too much of what we’ve created feels like each song needs its own special purpose and promotion.

“Pieces to the Puzzle”

“The Doctor is in”

Those are two album titles I’ve been toying with if there is an album we’re looking at early 2022 for sure.

What else is happening next in Dave Reit’s world?

Well, it kind of seems like I’ve been living my life one week at a time, from single to single. Next up, “Our Time” is dropping 11/09, and the video for that one is unreal – we had so much fun filming it in Puerto Rico. In my personal -it’s just more of the same enjoying my children and spending as much time with them as I can before the next road trip.

Thank you!
