How would you introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Jeremy Diamond. I’m a senior partner and one of the founding partners at Diamond and Diamond. We are a law firm in Canada with over 50 lawyers and multiple locations across the country. While we are known for our personal injury division, we recently expanded to additional services such as real estate, wills, and more.
Why do you think that people trust you and turn to you?
Oh, its true actually. Besides the expertise and knowledge that our lawyers carry, we have some principles that Customers are our top-most priority. We provide them the facilities that no one does. How and why did you come up with starting a firm?
My family has been in the personal injury business for decades. I took over the firm from my uncle and was at the helm with my wife and my brother-in-law, Isaac Zisckind. We changed the business middle when we took over and turned it into a major law firm. The previous business model was largely referrals. We’re in plaintiff personal injury because I’ve witnessed the resources of major insurers and know that victims can suffer. We want to get people the compensation they deserve in what is often a trying time.
What cases do you think made your Firm a better reach?
Some of our largest success stories have been the class action lawsuits we have spearheaded including taking on the makers of Round Up or even the long-term care homes in Ontario who mismanaged COVID. Our class action suits have garnered us international media and exposure. Because we are well known and well-funded, we are able to take on major cases that other firms could not.
What has kept you in this business and who is your main support?
My wife Sandra Zisckind is an incredible woman who has been by my side through this journey over the past decade. We can always bounce ideas off each other and help each other through very stressful moments. We started wanting to disrupt the way personal injury law has been done and as such have come up against a lot of resistance.
How do you help your clients?
Our clients are like family. We give out our personal phone numbers and keep in touch with them every step of the way. A car accident can take a person’s life and turn it upside down and so as their lawyer you have to help them through so many things…finances, psychological struggles, the effect on their family, etc. We bring goodness because we help people get back on their feet and back to life.
What is your favorite ‘Life Lesson Quote’?
I enjoy the quote “don’t look back you’re not going that way”. So often in our lives, we dwell on what could have been. As a leader, I try to keep looking forward and learn from my mistakes but not dwell on them.
What is your favorite time that you enjoy the most spending?
I enjoy every moment with my kids teaching them about the world and watching them as they discover new things. Being a father has brought me immeasurable joy and purpose.
