It’s always nice when two freshman television shows that have solid writing and acting do well enough to warrant a continuation of their respective adventures. Such is the case with rookie series’ NCIS: Hawai’i’ and FBI: International, two shows which have cultivated and built a strong following among fans during their short tenures on the boob tube. According to our pals over at The Hollywood Reporter, both of these newbies have just received full-season pickups from the good folks at their home network, CBS.

NCIS: Hawai’i’ is obviously one of the spinoffs from the storied NCIS franchise. This new entry in the world of NCIS – the fourth, if you’re one to keep count – involves a group of Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents working out of their home base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Their chief focus is on crimes that are connected to the military and national security. The series features a powerhouse performance by actress Vanessa Lachey, the very first female lead in all of NCIS history.

FBI: International focuses on the very best operatives in the renowned FBI’s International Fly Team which is located smack dab in the middle of Budapest; Their never-ending battle (should they choose to accept it) is all about locating and ridding the world of dangers against the United States of America.

Both shows have scored initial solid ratings in the front-half of their 2021-2022 first season. Just to illustrate how well these two new additions are doing with viewers, this announcement of a full season order drops a mere three weeks into both shows. They also have the bragging rights of being the first among nine new scripted series from CBS to have extended episode orders.

In a press release, CBS Big Wheel (and Entertainment President) Kelly Kahl said that “These two terrific new dramas are off to a tremendous start. They have significantly strengthened and improved our lineup on their respective nights and are generating huge increases on our streaming platforms as well. We applaud the talented producers, writers and casts on their compelling storytelling and performances, which are clearly resonating with viewers.”
