Socialite and reality star Paris Hilton retweeted a video titled “I Lived Like Marilyn Monroe for a Day”. “Iconic” – she wrote to Pamela Hilton – a vintage inspired singer-songwriter and content creator who filmed the video for fun as a part of her “Pamela’s Vlogging Show”.
Pamela herself is a platinum haired blonde who dresses vintage, lives in Seoul, South Korea and shares her adventures and vintage-related content on her YouTube channel. Her hair is almost white, her skin is milky, and she looks just like she came out of the 1950s. In one of the videos she looks like a “hot housewife from the 1950s” while cooking the recipes from the latest Netflix’s show Cooking with Paris. In another video, Pamela shares her love of nostalgic toys, old-school Barbie dolls from the 90s and rare collectible cards with Marilyn Monroe.
“When Paris Hilton was filming her phenomenal YouTube documentary This Is Paris, we met in Korea, and she started calling me her Baby Marilyn,” – Pamela shares in her YouTube video. “Since then some people have started telling me that they notice some similarities but I personally don’t see them myself.”
Pamela has a breathy voice, just like Marilyn herself, but she claims it comes naturally due to her stuttering. “She [Marilyn] had a stutter just like me” – the content creator shares in the video, “Growing up with the stuttering, I always felt alone. I used to think that I was the only person who stuttered. But in one of the books it was mentioned that Marilyn Monroe had a stutter and that was so special to me, not to feel alone.” Pamela’s followers often compare her to the iconic blonde bombshell and it seems like the “Baby Marilyn” nickname is there to stay. “Baby Marilyn!” – exclaims one of her followers. “Beautiful little Marilyn with a skin as milky as the bottle in front of her” – compliments another user.
Pamela herself shyly accepts the comparison even though claiming she doesn’t see the similarities herself, she only adores Marilyn since the star was the only famous woman with a stutter that Pamela knew since her childhood.
Turns out that the video is a creator’s take on a viral “living like … for a day” trend. Given the constant comparison from her audience, it is no wonder that Pamela chose her video to replicate a day in the life of no other than the greatest star of Hollywood Marilyn Monroe. The video, according to Pamela herself, is based on her extensive research of the late star biography and describes Monroe’s daily routine, including her favorite bizarre meals or ways that she kept her mind and body in shape. However, the content creator also notices that the video was made purely for fun and that “There’s only one Marilyn Monroe”.
