Hi Sophie, thanks so much for talking with us today! How are you?
I’m doing good super excited to be working with you all for this premiere!
We are loving the video for “Bored To Death,” can you tell us more about it?
Yeah of course, this video is something I’m super proud of. My team and I put a lot of long hours and hard work into it and I am so happy people are finally getting the chance to see it!
Can you tell me what inspired this song?
I was inspired by what I was going through emotionally at the time. I wrote the song during lock down, feeling so isolated and alone. I think that time affected a lot of young people in a really serious way. I wanted to bring light to those emotions and let others know they weren’t alone in that.
What was the inspiration behind the video?
I wanted the video to somewhat contrast the song. Outwardly it’s shot in a beautiful location but the process of slowly breaking down and losing it is shown throughout the video.
Is this your first music video?
This was my first music video I’ve ever made! It was a super crazy experience and felt very surreal for me. It had always been a dream of mine and I’m very grateful I was able to make it happen.
How was the process of making the video?
The process was insanely fun. Coming up with all the ideas for each shot and how to show the emotion in it was a great time.
What do you hope the viewers feel with they watch the video?
I hope that people are able to feel a little less alone in those emotions and know that sometimes it’s ok to being feeling nothing and everything all at the same time. I just hope it evokes some emotion and helps people feel like others get that.
Do you have any other new music releasing soon?
We have a ton of new stuff in the works. I just released the single for this music video called “Bored To Death,” so definitely go check that out. But we will have new songs and videos coming out left and right the next few months so get excited for that.
Any other videos coming up?
We have two other videos on the way. Also ones that I am super proud of, I think they both show super relatable stories and are just shot in a super intriguing way.
Now that things are starting to open up, have you been playing any live shows or do you have any coming up?
Yeah we are getting back in the game with live shows and everything. I played a show at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, Colorado a few weeks ago that was stellar. And we are looking at a bunch more live shows coming up along with some fun events like a release party for the videos.
What else is happening in Sophie Gray’s world?
A ton has been happening in the music world which i’m super happy about. We have been working for almost a year now on an EP that’s coming out soon. Also, I’m stoked that we are getting the world back and starting to live life again. I’m super happy to be back at school, back playing live shows, and of course going to them as well.
