LA based alternative band, Paper Jackets have released their new album Souvenirs Volume 2. This collection of songs bridges the gap of old and new, incorporating the sounds of the 1960s while keeping a modern alternative indie pop feel. The album consists of nine tracks including “1969,” a love song that paints a nostalgic picture and transports the listener to back to the Summer of Love, “Complicated,” co-written with Sam DeRosa (lovelytheband, Dixie D’Amelio, Lukas Graham) and “Okay 🙂,” co-written with Little Hurt frontman Colin Dieden and featured today on Spotify’s New Noise playlist.
On their new album Paper Jackets shares, “’Souvenirs Vol. 2’ wields inspiration from the Laurel Canyon sound of the late 1960’s, affected by such acts as Crosby Stills Nash and Young, The Mama’s and The Papa’s, and the Beach Boys. We set out to paint a harmonic landscape pulling from both then and now, mixing analog synths, chunky guitars and subtle percussive layers while letting the emotion and heart of the lyrics bubble up to the surface.” The band continues, “As a form of escapism, we romanticized the past, and dreamed of creating music as these bands did – imagining our own fictional experience of events like Woodstock.
