We were all concerned for actor Bob Odenkirk when, just a month and a half ago, he was rushed to a hospital after collapsing on the set filming a scene for the final season of AMC’s spinoff to Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul. The fifty-eight year old star of such pop culture touchstones as Little Women, The Kominsky Method, Fargo, Nebraska, The Office, Saturday Night Live and Joey (alright, we might be stretching the point just a wee bit with that last entry) gave most of us a glimpse of our own mortality that particular day; after all if a heart attack could befall Bob Odenkirk – someone who always projects healthy and fit anytime we catch him strolling down a red carpet or sitting down for a one-on-one chat with an intrepid reporter covering the pop beat – what chance do us mere mortals who play $1 scratch-off tickets and routinely guzzle Bic Macs have?
It’s a story that could have had a much more somber and even sad conclusion. Luckily for all of us – and for Odenkirk specifically – things are coming up daisies for the one and only Jimmy McGill lately, according to our Ben Casey-watching pals over at The Hollywood Reporter. In a Wednesday morning bit of breaking news, the freshly minted Odenkirk tweeted a photo of himself back at the Better Call Saul set having a fresh round of makeup applied for a scheduled filming of the hit series.
Looking quite dapper as a makeup artist works her alchemy, Odenkirk also sent out a brief message about his return to set: “Back to work on Better Call Saul! So happy to be here and living this specific life surrounded by such good people. BTW this is makeup pro Cheri Montesanto making me not ugly for shooting!”
Better Call Saul is at the halfway point in filming its sixth and final season in the Land of Enchantment itself, New Mexico. The series was rocked back on July 27 when Odenkirk was rushed to an Albuquerque hospital. AMC issued a statement the following day reassuring well-wishers that their star actor was in stable condition and recovering from “a heart related incident.”
Vents welcomes back Bob Odenkirk and wishes him only the best in health!
Better Call Saul Season Six is tentatively scheduled to air sometime in 2022.
