INTERVIEW: Chelsea Singh

1. How have you been?

Been very busy and keeping myself in the recording studio, making more music but this time under a slightly different genre of deep minimal tech.

2. Can you talk to us more about your latest singles?

My new singles that are due to come out will be minimal tech as that’s what’s happening at the moment and what I am enjoying!

3. Did any event in particular inspire you to write these songs?

No particular event inspired me to write my music, it was just from going to raves back in the day and going to nightclubs and being able to listen to all of the music out there I guess was the inspiration for what I write today!

4. How was the recording and writing process?

It’s actually a weird process. Some of the best ideas I have come to me at 3 or 4am when I am half asleep! I literally have to get up and do a voice note or write the ideas down on a piece of paper so I can remember it for the next day!

5. Where do you live now and what do you like about it?

I actually live in 4 different locations. I live in Sweden and what I like about it there is that the people are so lovely and honest. I also live in Tenerife and I love that all year round the weather is amazing! I also live in Chelsea and I like the buzz, the nightlife, restaurants and bars there! And of course Chelsea is one of the coolest places to live. Finally, I live in Windsor, I love the peace, the tranquility, and that it’s a royal town! The queen is my neighbour.

6. Where else do you find the inspiration for your songs and lyrics? Are there any musicians who particularly inspire you?

The inspirations and lyrics for my songs usually come from late 80s, early 90s tracks. It’s the music that I grew up to listening so my inspiration really comes from that era.

7. What are you most looking forward to? Do you have plans to tour?

I do have plans to tour but it will have to wait until next year! Due to Covid there is still too many restrictions and too many PCR tests which you have to do which is actually a bit of a nightmare! So tours are out of the question for this year, but definitely next year I am looking to go back on tour and I can’t wait!!!!

8. As live music gears up, where are you looking forward to playing?

I am looking forward to playing some of my new productions. It’s actually mad because during lockdown where I made most of my music, hardly any of it has been played live or in clubs as they had been shut for the last 17 months! It’s time to go out there and smash it!!
