Meme Roundup: You Need These On Your Soundboard

Memes, memes never change. They are quite the unrelenting phenomenon that just doesn’t seem to slow down. They are satire, irony, sarcasm and slapstick all rolled into one. They are universal, so everyone can understand them. They can sometimes summarize a culturally significant moment. Not to mention, they celebrate online culture, with so many random videos and soundbites that get captured and played over and over to viewers’ delight. These are some of the top memes you need on your SoundBoardGuy.

Sigma Grindset

What is it? According to MemeBase It’s a meme about alpha male wisdom. There are some stupid things that so many people have believed which turn out to be false, but sometimes, the sheer arrogance of what someone says has a kernel of truth. This Grindset meme, for example, plays the ‘drive forever’ song by polozhenie after a video showing an unpopular position about something. For example, one video shows Gru helping a child only to turn around and spite him. He walks away as the music plays and the writing is ‘alpha male has no time for children, has to stay on the grind set. It’s hilarious, dark humor but in meme form.

African gossip kid

African films and culture make an appearance once again with the ‘I don’t have any time for gossip’ kid. He’s a small African child in what appears to be a low-budget film, with a bag of groceries or his belongings over one shoulder and his sassy hand out in front of him. He’s talking to a woman who has stopped him to ask him what he is doing and where he is going. She accuses him of doing something later on in the film and he repeats the line to the audience’s delight. According to Vlipsy, the soundboard clip was created about 3 years ago and has spread like wildfire.

The Queen

Now Her Majesty is not quite known to be meme-friendly but when she was in the garden assessing her trees, she was asked why a sundial was planted in the shade. She replied ‘isn’t it good, yes’. This became a meme over Discord and spread onto Twitter. The episode where this was taken from, was a wildlife and climate change series that the BBC created. It was mainly popular in British online culture but it soon spread to America.

Why are you lying?

No doubt you have probably heard of this one by now. The ‘Why the F… you lying’ meme is pretty well known by lots of online cultures and subcultures. It features a man singing a simple song, asking some unknown person why they are lying? It can be clipped onto a soundboard and played when you suspect someone in your group of online friends is not quite being honest.
