While the Covid-19 pandemic caused hundreds of thousands of companies to close, more than 4 million people in the US started their own businesses during this same time.
It seems like there’s never been a busier time for new start-ups but what do you need to know? LeenaLove talks through the lessons she learned in the first year of a new business.
For many, being your own boss is the main reason to start a business and that’s definitely one of the things LeenaLove looked forward to when she began.
The feeling of not having to clock in and out, or having set hours was one aspect that the content creator relished, however, it did force her to tackle self discipline very quickly.
But not how you might think. While LeenaLove had always been motivated to get up and go, she had to learn how to delegate and actually give herself time off.
The problem, she says, is knowing that it’s all down to yourself to bring in the money and that stress and worry can be a problem.
LeenaLove suggests that in the beginning, when everything is a whirlwind to get the business off the ground, setting an alarm to give yourself one hour off and slowly build it up.
Relinquishing control for those short spaces of time will allow your brain to rest and you will come back fresher.
Multitasking is something else that the content creator has had to learn, being a Jack of all trades to keep costs down.
For instance, the model has mastered taking her own photos, learning how to live stream on all different platforms, doing music, advertising and promoting, and editing her own videos.
Starting with the basics, LeenaLove looked close to home when considering her business name as she wanted something that was personal and stood out.
The model went with LeenaLove because her real name is Leena and she loves to spread love. Simple as that.
Another point that the model learned is that she is capable of anything when she’s in her “hustle” mindset.
Mastering the ability to believe in yourself and trust in your ideas and intuition is something LeenaLove had to do.
She admits that it was scary at first worrying that people weren’t going to like her content but once she started having more confidence in herself she took more chances and the reaction has always been positive.
To be successful LeenaLove believes you have to “trial and error” things and take risks and potentially lose what you have to budget for your business.
She says in the long run you will get back what you put in.
