Shoring Up Their Brand, AMC Renews “Kevin Can F**k Himself” for a Second Season

If you’re a freshman series out there in the big, bad world of network and streaming programming, chances are that you’re living on pins and needles awaiting official word from the Big Wheels at your respective home berth that you’ll indeed live to fight another day in the form of a mucho coveted second season renewal. After all, if trendsetting and excellent programs such as My So-Called Life can get the ax after one lone season, who is really safe in the world of the boob tube?

The assorted talent behind the lauded first season of Kevin Can F**k Himself must be dancing a Busby Berkley musical number right about now with the breaking news from our Lone Gunmen fanatics over at The Hollywood Reporter that AMC has opted to go all-in with the smash new show to the tune of a second season which features rising talent Annie Murphy in a star-making turn.

Created by wunderkind Valerie Armstrong, Kevin Can F**k Himself is about a clichéd television sitcom-style wife who lands in a shadowy and unsettling plane of existence after exiting her husband Kevin’s orbit.

Mr. Dan McDermott, one of those aforementioned Big Wheels in whose ample President of Original Programming hands the fate of a slew of series rests over at AMC issued a press release about the renewal today, saying that “It’s Kevin’s world, Allison’s just living in it. Or is she? This series was built on a novel and unique concept, and the creative team on both sides of the camera, led by Valerie and Annie, delivered a highly entertaining first season that really got people talking and rooting for the sitcom wife as never before. We are excited to see this talented team move from the finale’s cliffhanger and continue Allison’s journey, pushing the bounds of conventional storytelling every step of the way.”

Determined to match McDermott’s plaudits, show creator Valerie Armstrong responded with the following statement: “We’re so grateful to AMC for giving a home to our weird little show. Creating the first season of Kevin Can F**k Himself and getting to tell this story has been the joy of my life. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be stuck in Worcester with Allison for another year.”

The upcoming eight episode second season of Kevin Can F**k Himself is set to drop sometime during 2022. Stay tuned to Vents for any and all updates on one of the more creative new shows currently going!
