As first-time parents, and even second-timers, there is a lot to learn about baby care! And there are several things nobody tells you until you bump into the problem. On these hidden parental topics is the use of different diapers.
You may find too much information online about consumption, so we all know by this stage that your newborn will take about 200 disposable diapers of the first size. But, did you know that there are other types of diapers that you will need as the kid grows up?
Today we will talk about “the other diapers” and how to accurately buy them.
What to look for in diapers?
Lat’s talk a bit first of the 3 key facts to check before buying any diaper:
· The Material
Babies are prompt to get rashes, so, the first thing to look for in a diaper is the material. The more natural the material is, the least you have to worry about your little guy not sleeping through the night with his little butt burning red.
So, cotton fiber is a yes, Bamboo is a super yes, but plastic diapers can be a nightmare.
How can you check the diaper? Read the material sheet. Usually, major brands are guaranteed to be safe, but they are also more expensive. Also, premium materials such as Bamboo and Hemp are not usual.
· The Design
Design is also a key fact; some diapers are given an angle to help the baby when he starts crawling. These are usually NOT GOOD! Just as it sounds, this angle allows the baby’s liquids to go off the diaper and will give you some disaster moments -hopefully, while you are at home.
So, avoid ergonomic crawling diapers unless you need them -if the baby crawls too much and needs extra mobility and comfort. Avoid them especially when 0-6 months old, since most babies start crawling at 8 months.
· The Size
This one is basic, don’t trust the size. Diapers usually include a recommended weight with their size. If your baby is a 12Lb prince, then he may be still S size for some brands but M size for others. Look at the recommended weight instead of the size.
Diapers you didn’t know you may use:
Now to the topic, here are the diapers you will discover in this post:
1. Pool Diapers
Ok, so, let’s say you get to organize all the baby stuff and make the free time for a relaxing pool day. If your kid is already 3-6 months old, he will want to swim in your arms a bit, but you can’t live with the fear of having “an accident” in the pool.
That’s when Pool Diapers come in handy. This beautiful invention is designed to not allow piss nor poop out and absorb all that comes from the kid while not getting wet from the pool water. Sure, they are not the top comfortable diapers, but your kid shouldn’t bathe in a pool for more than 2 hours anyway. You can find perfect Pool Diapers at Little Toes.
2. Non-disposable diapers
There are not a favorite but they can be used. Non-disposable diapers are not as they used to be, just a fabric to be wrapped on the baby’s butt. Now they look and work like underwear. The thing about these is that they are nature-friendly, but you will have to wash them apart and, some models, by hand.
3. Training Diapers
Are you struggling to help your kid leave the diaper? Training diapers are the thing. These are great to avoid disaster and you will barely need 50 of them as much.
This type of diaper looks and feels like underwear, it is also designed to be put on as a boxer or panty would. So, your kid will feel the change of not having a diaper, and you won’t have to sweep the floor if he has an accident. Win-win.
4. VIP diapers
Remember when we talked about the materials earlier. Well, there are special material diapers out there for babies with sensitive skin. If you ever need a diaper with extra fiber to protect your children’s skin from rashes, going for a bamboo fiber diaper is the best choice. These are so soft and hypoallergenic that is a shame they are disposable.
