Albert Einstein once said that an intelligent person, and not even a specialist, could delve deeply into modern physical problems. But is it really so? Physics explores the discoveries that have been made over the past decades in the field of macro and microphysics, megaphysics. But modern students know little about this. The discipline itself seems to them the boring, “frozen” in time subject. All these discoveries, new knowledge for the majority of students remain unknown. Moreover, too much theory and complicated assignments repeal young Newtons from physics. However, this situation can be changed if they simply get help with physics homework on a special service. In this case, students will be able to solve even the most difficult physics tasks faster.
What is wrong with physics, and why is it wrong? Let’s sort it out.
- Physics seems too complicated due to math
In the current school, students study the discipline in order to have a good GPA or to pass the exam successfully. The entire study of physics is structured in such a way that knowledge can be verified and evaluated. Solving physical problems is reduced to memorizing a formula, substituting numbers, and performing arithmetic operations with them. The discipline itself is very small in physics problems. There is also a lot of mathematics in physics. Students face little creativity and little understanding. As a result, knowledge very quickly disappears from the head when the graduate finishes school. If teachers reduce the number of tasks and bring closer the students’ desire to comprehend the secrets of the Universe, explain what is happening, then even students who are not good at mathematics would be interested in physics.
- The material that is explained in the lessons is not related to the present time
How does the Higgs boson affect our daily life? In general, how could the scientist, physicist Peter Higgs predict its existence in the middle of the last century? Now, scientists have discovered quantum teleportation. Will it be possible to teleport over distances, not only quantum states but also matter? All these discoveries take place right in the present time and sound much more interesting than solving problems with an ammeter and a voltmeter. Modern discoveries help students understand how huge and multidimensional the world is. And there are places in it for discoveries and for explanations of why the world is arranged this way. However, unfortunately, most students will not be able to understand this because they remain at the basic level of the discipline. In physics lessons, there is little reality.
- Many tasks in which there is no reality
80% of all problems in the discipline are directed to the application of formulas and strict adherence to solution patterns. If the students used a different method, then the answer would not be counted as correct. In this case, the very content of the task remains abstract. Imagine how wonderful it would be if the task contained specific examples from life. For example, how long does it take for Americano to cool down if the temperature outside is +20 or -10 degrees? How fast can you charge your phone in 15 minutes? The laws of physics in practice would interest students. Teachers would be surprised at the activity and interest of students in solving such problems.
- More practice
The student will remember tasks taken from practical life, abstract theoretical generalizations. After all, you need to pass the exam and get a high grade. However, he or she will not be able to apply them in life. As a result, the student will again, in practice, study the laws of physics. This problem – to connect physics with practice, is successfully solved by clubs and schools of robotics. Students who are lucky enough to get there see how modern machines with chips work, how they can create masks on a 3D printer to protect against coronavirus. Students would be convinced that in physics, theory and practice are closely related. Theory in close connection with practice can work wonders!
- You need to prepare for the discipline in advance
Since most of the time and the required competence of students are associated with solving problems and the need to find the right answer, the teacher has no choice but to improve the knowledge of students in mathematics. Physics and mathematics are not only closely related but also turn out to be interdependent. Not knowing elementary arithmetic operations, the student simply will not cope with the task in physics. As a result, the student should be engaged in mathematics before starting to study physics. Everything is complicated; the material is not interesting, the problems are also so, imagine if, moreover, the student does not understand mathematics. He or she will simply take physics lessons as torture.
- Who needs a physics textbook?
It would be ideal if the teacher teaches in physics lessons to love the discipline, understand the laws of physics and apply it in life. Instead, most often, it all comes down to cramming from a physics textbook, copying formulas during a test. Students do not open the textbook to read because it is interesting. In a modern textbook, there should be no place for dry text and abstract statements. The student must understand himself or herself how the laws of physics work in practice. Connection with life, examples from practice, practical advice – this is what an interesting physics textbook should be like.
Interest in physics increased after the “The Martian” and “Interstellar” movies. Indeed, what knowledge is needed for a person to be able to survive alone on Mars or on another planet? What skills do you need to have? Every fifth student asked himself or herself this question. These movies are based on the principles of physics; students go through them in school. But, more often, they don’t memorize them. Hopefully, we will soon see the physics of reality in textbooks and lessons.
- What is the main difficulty in studying physics?
The hardest thing to believe is that physics is easy. Physics absolutely terrifies students – but in fact, physics is much easier, say, a math course. In physics, it is easy to draw parallels and analogies with real life. Most laws are more intuitive than complex proofs and theorems in mathematics. Physics is simple. You will see that everything is much simpler than it seemed. Just don’t give up!
