There are some musicians who come into the industry bringing innovation, none seemingly more so for Melbourne City than Hip-Hop artist, Prymal. There is no doubt that the industry has made us habitual for gaining new and unique voices and sounds. We oftentimes find ourselves bored with the generic rehash of the same kind of music, and we desire more, we desire something different. The industry doesn’t seem to disappoint, when every so often, it fulfils our wishes, gifting the world with a rising star, with something substantial to contribute to the landscape of music. Today, we are going to talk about a new rising artist who is making his name in the underground scene and the industry simultaneously, by portraying a cast of characters within his discography as well as offering some of the coolest and exclusive tracks Melbourne has potentially ever seen from a hip-hop artist.
Prymal from Melbourne is a hip-hop artist, rapper, singer, songwriter, and storyteller who started recording not so long ago. When rapping under his Prymal persona, He is very particular and focused with his lyricism and writing ability, prioritising story-telling within his songs. As well as entertaining flows and enticing delivery, however, within his Pridaval persona his lyrics are more harsh, aggressive and have a more sinister vibe to them. Till now he has released several songs and the most prominent ones include; ‘When it’s real’, ‘Shattered Minds’ ‘Cheque’,‘Deranged’, ‘Can You Help Me Find My Sanity’, ‘Say Hi To Pri’, ‘Breakdown’ and ‘Out of Order’. All of these songs are available on music websites such as Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Soundcloud and YouTube.
Prymal has indeed worked with his own clique of artists across Australia and the world, and listening to his songs, we can say the experience of those collaborations have paid off. Prominently he has worked with one of the fine rappers Empathy in his album ‘Mirror Mirror’. Prymal shared that the experience of working with Empathy as their second collaboration and first collaboration to be put up on streaming services, later, Prymal worked with acts such as Nameless, LoD, Empathy a couple times more, Grandmaster X and Vibe Tyson. As well as preparing to collaborate with names such as Chance Connors, Cihtym, Agus Lops, Soul Collector, Blindsight, Samad Savage, and 02Raps. Prymal is well-known for his darker tone storytelling songs, with cinematic beats, teaming up with Producer Domynation to compose his upcoming albums, The Nightmare Before Dawn, and then later, The Lion’s Den.
When Prymal released his debut single, ‘When It’s Real’, Reception was impressively positive, gaining eyes and attention everywhere. The song opens up with the music of chiming tubular bells and then gradually falls into deep throbbing bass beats, rimshots, fast dotted notes, and flares of strings which settle the harmony of the vocals. Combined with a heavy bass to emphasise the vibes Prymal was going for. The song was about the dangers of a front that many artists put up when they put up a front of toughness, and that there are real consequences for that. Prymal shared that he is going to release one of his most promising albums ‘The Nightmare Before Dawn’ during the beginning of 2022. And then later, his much anticipated, ‘The Lion’s Den’ album.
