Hi Jordyn, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey! Thanks for having me. I’ve been great. How are you?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Burn”?
Of course. Burn is actually one of my favorite song’s I’ve ever written. Ncognita and I were in a session a while ago and were having this conversation about the beauty of chaos. While we were going back and forth the concept of fire and burning down the old to build new became the focal point of our conversation which ended up being the meaning around Burn. We shared so much passion for the theme and content of the song and wanted that energy to conveyed on the record. So when Liza, John and Cole (the producers on Burn) started working they took a very epic and cinematic approach to the song.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Not exactly. Burn started out as a philosophical conversation about love lost, self destruction morphing into self love, and growing pains of adulthood and grew into this magical body of work.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
Yes! Im glad you asked. I was trying to keep it a surprise but I’m actually planning on releasing a visualizer for Burn Wednesday, 7/28. Liza and I conceptualized the video a while ago and
are excited to share it with everyone.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording and writing process felt like two different worlds. I have this theory that as you continue to live life and experience all that it has to offer that songs become easier to write but harder to sing. By that I mean, life gives you content to write about all the time but a lot of that content comes from painful experiences that are hard to relive. So although the words can just flow out of you, having to sing them back to yourself can be the true challenge. And that’s how I felt about Burn.
What role does LA play in your music?
Ahh!! I’m an LA baby at heart. I take pride in my city and am blessed to grow up in a such a culturally present environment. LA plays a huge role in my pen. The city has undeniably molded Jordyn Simone the artist and the person in so many ways.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes, it absolutely does. Liza (my manager) and I want to make sure to keep the momentum going and continue working on growing an authentic and real fan base so we’ve got a whole bunch of singles lined up that we plan on releasing for the remainder of the year.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Ohh y’all trynna get the tea, I see haha. Nothings is set in stone yet but a lot of new material is in the works so stay tuned and make sure to follow me on socials and streaming platforms @jordynsimone to keep an eye out for what’s next.
What else is happening next in Jordyn Simone’s world?
Well besides being an artist I’m also a full time student at USC so I’ll be going back to school pretty soon haha. Im excited to finish out my college education and also get back in the studio. Thats pretty much it.
