PREMIERE: Wake Magnolia Release New Single “Windmill”

Akron, Ohio Alt-Rock duo Wake Magnolia are back with a new single “Windmill”. Blistering guitars, thoughtful lyrics, and heavy drumming makes for a killer track. If your in the Cleveland area on August 14th swing by Mahalls to catch their show with The Super Babes and Houses & Hotels. Below you can also check to their video for their last single “Sunburns”.

About the song, Nick comments “Windmill” was inspired by an old windmill that stood, and still does stand, in my late grandparent’s backyard. When I was young there use to be a garden with a variety of vegetables, grape leaves growing on the fence that bordered their land, a pear tree in the center of it all with a wishing well near it, and that windmill in their backyard. As time went on, my grandparents grew old and eventually past, and all that remained was the windmill. I remember being at their home the last time I saw my grandmother alive and taking in the land where once so much stood and now lay barren, besides the windmill. The meaning behind “Windmill” is quite simple, time is always passing (like the wind blowing through and turning the windmill blades), change is inevitable, and one day we will all leave this Earth. What matters is what we leave behind to inspire those that are still here. “Windmill” is dedicated to Ann and Frank Tilisky.
