Interview: – How Ankur Ojha Went From Performing Into the University Days to Now Sending Songs To The Bollywood Producers & Directors.

Hi Ankur Ojha, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

So great! Things are happening.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sapne Bache”?

: Yeah. So I told my elder Cousin Brother to write this song for me who has already written some songs for me earlier as well. While ago, one day thinking about how many people must be in this world want to achieve their goals & dreams in life but some people lose hope and never able to make it so i thought i should make a song that will inspire youths and dreamers so that’s how i came up with this song “Sapne Bache” [Dreams should be fulfilled and not a single one should be remain left]

Did any incident in particular inspire you to write this song?

No such any incident which was in my mind but sure some flashbacks and memories from old events helped form the track to where it is now.

How did the pandemic influence your writing and music journey?

Ha-ha! It’s been really hard making music in the pandemic where we have little time to go out so i somehow managed to go studio and work on some singles and wrote a lot of things and added in my library of songs.

How was your childhood transition from Moving out from Your Birth place to settle In Mumbai?

I grew up in Varanasi known as The Holy city of India and moved out when i passed out from twelfth grade, so I was about 18 years old. I really say I grew up in Varanasi. Where At home it was religious, but now in Mumbai it is now more Western and multi-cultural. It’s cool to see that I have different perspectives and backgrounds; it made me more open to meeting people.

Who were your musical influencers back then?

When I was really young, Atif Aslam was the biggest thing in the world to me. Before coming to Mumbai throughout this journey, I got really influenced by Adele, Bruno Mars & Enrique etc. They are my favorite International artists, But I want to be like the perfect mixture of Adele, Atif Aslam & Enrique and somewhere right in the middle, where I’m a Pop Star But I’m open to many genres, That’s the best way to describe where my brain wants to be.

What did Adele & Atif Aslam mean to you as you were growing up and doing things?

Since i moved out from my college i have faced up a lot of ups n downs but never lose hope and now those singers somehow shaped my whole life in a better way when I listen to their songs it shows me the true meaning of life and cool me down a bit.

I like their songs as it boost me up all the day up and gives me energy to do things.

Did you have any sort of musical background?

Surprisingly, No. Nobody in my family ever did music. I went to university for Engineering to make my family happy. I study Mechanical Engineering Education which is a very important part to be an adult in Indian culture. After one semester, I realized university was just an obstacle between me and my dream. I was already pursuing music and performing in my university, but I wasn’t doing so well into my studies. I thought if I really wanted music, I have to do it with 100 percent. So i somehow completed study left university and gain my side passion Solar and became a Solar Engineer later on and that was a whole big thing with my family, but I knew what thrilling was going in my mind i believed in myself and it paid off and now I’m in Mumbai to work on my Dream of Music .

How did you build your fan base so quickly? You seem to have established a connection early.

I had this mentality when I started making music that I would release a song and it would just blow up one day. I was young. I didn’t understand the idea of rollouts and marketing plans. I started writing from my heart instead of impressing anyone the music that people would like. I sang songs everywhere and whenever i feel like and thought people would share it on social media if they liked it. They thought I was singing covers, but they were really my songs. That’s kind of how I built a fan base. Once people found me, I would reply to all of the DMs and comments to make sure I was engaging with them. I built a personal relationship with each of my fans to where I’m kind of like their friend.

What Will Be Your Next Song Projects?

There are lots of things on the way i have been writing a lot of songs and in the touch with the names of the prominent film producers and directors also. This time I’m experimenting totally different things, this time I’m goanna be releasing some covers and give tribute to my musical legends those are part of my musical journey as a grown up child and just working on & on getting my name and music out for my fans . These recent appreciation wins and have been really great for me.
