Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi and thanks for having us! We have been quite busy but also incredibly good!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Sanity”?

Yes sure! It deals with the downfall of sanity itself. The instrumental portrays this very well as there are moments of how the song is written that will surprise the listener. That is because of its more progressive writhing style. It is both very heavy and melodic, creating an up and down feeling that sucks you in. We managed to get the variety of riffs, beats and vocal techniques in complete harmony. We are enormously proud of it.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Well, our former rhythm guitarist left last year and Björn took his place. After one of the first jamming sessions of Björn and Timo they created the basis of this song as their first writing test. It was purely instrumental but had an incredibly special vibe. With the album in mind, we chose this song to become the leading track.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

At first, we must shout out to our filming partners at AlphaAlias! They are massively talented and motivated! The idea was to create a performance video that also tells the story of the song only by how the visuals are done. We chose an old bunker to film in and brought clean clothes and ripped and dirty ones to show the “sane” and “insane” side. While shooting a video there always is something that does not work out or something unplanned happens. But not this time. We never had a video shooting that went so smoothly like this. It was a lot of fun; we enjoyed every minute and even more the result of it!

How was the recording and writing process?

In short: exhausting. Not the writing part. That went quite easily. But being in the studio at Pointbreak Recordings was hard because we have a especially high expectation for ourselves. Our producer really pushed us to get the best out of us and he ultimately achieved it!

What role does Remscheid play in your music?

It is not included in our music at all. It is our hometown, well, at least for three of us. We get a lot of support here by our friends and families but also from local venues, promoters and some companies.

How has As I Lay Dying and Avenged Sevenfold influenced your writing?

As I Lay Dying is a metalcore classic. They write brachial songs, have fast paste riffing and a good balance of shouts and clean singing. So, we tried to follow their lead, combining fast riffing, heavy breakdowns and catchy melodic choruses.

Avenged Sevenfold are way more melodic and heavily experimental. Our lead guitarist Timo takes a lot of influence from Synyster Gates. Also, the more uncommon way of writing songs did catch us and we began to become more progressive over time. And it is clear that M. Shadows is a fantastic singer who established his very own style.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

There is more material coming for sure! “Sanity” is the second single of our upcoming album. The first single “Whiteout” released in March and marked a turning point for our music. But “Sanity” is more than just “another single”. It is the title track of the album and we believe it is very worthy!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

We do not have a specific release date for the album, yet. It will be in autumn.

But the title is set in stone: Sanity! That is why our single “Sanity” shares this name.

What else is happening next in VOIDEMOLITION’s world?

We are working hard on the album but also plan some gigs. Some are meant to happen in 2021 (we keep our fingers crossed). We definitely plan to go on tour with our album in 2022!
