It’s not often that a Conservatory graduate makes a name for herself on the pop scene, yet that is the case for Austrian singer and songwriter Misha Kovar. Having gradually won over the musical, pop opera scene in her native Vienna, as well as throughout Europe, Kovar is now moving on to a blossoming career in pop music.

Her latest musical release, “Die Konigin der Nacht” (or “Queen of the Night”, for our non-German speakers), is just the latest piece in a sprawling demonstration of Misha’s incredible talents.

Having graduated from the Vienna Conservatory with a degree in Voice, Acting and Dance, Misha Kovar set her sights on the world of musicals. There, she had an impressive run, playing numerous high-end parts, such as Sarah in “Dance of the Vampires”, or Lisa and Lucy in “Jekyll and Hyde”.

And then, having proven her worth on the stage, she decided to move on to making music. “Die Konigin der Nacht” is a delight, in every sense of the word.

First, you’ve got the accompanying music video, which showcases Kovar’s skill as a dancer, but also works to highlight the meaning behind the lyrics. Showing Kovar in two very different settings, the video offers a fascinating take on the notion of “Queen of the Night”.

Then, you’ve got Misha Kovar’s impressive voice, and varied vocal range that manages to convey a wide array of emotions. This makes the song an instant hit with a lot of different audiences, across ages, and indeed, around the world.

Lastly, you’ve got the lyrics, which although slightly inaccessible because of the language, are nevertheless meaningful and emotionally charged.

All in all, “Die Konigin der Nacht” is a song that will get you shaking and moving about the place, imbibing you with the joy of having discovered a quality new artist.
