Liverpool-born — now Brighton-based — singer-songwriter and composer Mickey ‘Mick’ Wynne (a.k.a. The World of Mick) is proud to announce his brand-new single ‘All Quiet’ and itsaccompanying video, released today (Friday 18th June) on all digital platforms.
‘All Quiet’ comes from The World of Mick’s debut album — ‘MICK I’ — released in June 2019, later a digital release in January 2020: a full-length, 12-track studio album.
‘MICK I’ was released after Mick’s impressive international career as a sought-after session-man and composer: a project which brought together a group of talented friends including Sarah Passmore; the much-vaunted pedal-steel guitarist B. J. Cole; Irish singer Patrick Bergin, Jim Mortimore (bass); and ace engineer Joe Gibb (mixing, additional production).
“…although this is his first album,” said Nova Music Blog, “Wynne’s work has unexpectedly amazed us because of the fullness, density, deep sensitivity and all-understanding it offers. Where many artists yearn for completeness and coherence of this caliber, and very few reach it, perhaps only when they are at the height of a career spanning a whole lifetime, Mick seals a work so inspired and so expressive that it can only be born from an artist of impeccable talent…”
‘MICK I’ is out now on the Spotify and Apple digital platforms and all good online stores. The album earned Mick a place in the Spotify Million Club: quite an achievement for an indie artist, and has now passed two million Spotify streams!
Regarding ‘All Quiet’, Mick explains, “ I wrote this while I was working on a project in Karachi. It’s a snapshot of life out East; also about how the odds are stacked against the ordinary working man or woman getting on anywhere in the world.”
The striking video, produced by Vladimir Jaksic, which opens with some beautiful Baraka-like time-lapse footage of the sky, was shot in Stanmer Park and Devil’s Dyke, near Mick’s hometown of Brighton, and in Brighton itself. Musically, the track is diverse — as you’d expect from a songwriter with Mickey Wynne’s chops as a composer! — with an unusual rhythm and percussion, plus some tasty guitar work.
Micky Wynne is currently he’s drawing together new material for his sophomore, follow-up album, ‘MICK II’, which is currently at the editing/mixing stage and aiming to be finished in the coming months.
What’s more, The World of Mick plans two band shows in July: 7th July, The Dublin Castle (fabled pub and live music venue in Camden Town, London Castle, London NW1); and 16th July, The Drawingroom, Chesham. Festival dates to be announced.
