Music writer Munir vibes creates a kaleidoscope of music and spirituality
There are people who are born to do music and one of them is Kenneth Johnson aka Munir Vibes. A music artist in every sense of the word, the multi-hyphenate has a way of placing together beautiful tracks that touch your soul.
Passionate to build a soundscape that is uniquely his own, the Philadelphia born artist-songwriter uses his music to drive through some of life’s most unforgiving moments and hopefully help some people along the way. Over 15 years of his songwriting experience, Munir has helped family and friends to make improvements in their self-image to overcome personal obstacles and achieve their goals.
What makes him bring a fresh perspective to the table is his focus on sharing his experiences of life to lead the listeners to a place of using his stories to help make better decisions than what he did. He aims at showing different perspectives and expressing deeper meanings to surface topics. He creates pieces that are honest, and vulnerable so that anyone who listens to them can feel they are being heard.
The exceptional artist, Munir got his start in music at a very young age. Living with his family in Jamaica, the music and culture sparked a deep desire in him to become an entertainer. As a youth, he imagined himself on stage when watching reggae artists like Super Cat, Ninjaman, and Sizzla and hip-hop influences like The Lox, Busta Rhymes, and Rakim perform at various festivals and dancehalls.
After becoming an ordained minister and certified Ho’oponopono practitioner, he learned about the power of the mind and how to use it to live the life of his dreams. Inspired by the actual idea of songwriting and mental health, he started a growing YouTube channel that is geared toward meditation and mental health and offers sessions as a life coach. He established Vibes Up Entertainment; a record label that helps artists recognize their true potential while achieving personal fulfilment.
With the right mindset, he completely turned his life around for the better. With a long list of personal goals that may not seem like anything to others, he got himself off probation and expunged his criminal record. He also helped family and friends change their thinking around to achieve their personal goals from credit and finance to accomplishing intangible feats as well. He has reached over 100,000 streams on his single Pray.
The sum of his experiences led him to build self-awareness, and in doing so he experienced a renewal of his energy. He hopes to infuse his music career with positive self-image psychology while raising emotional awareness through storytelling. Apart from excelling in the musical landscape, Munir is also an entrepreneur. Aside from being the President of Vibes Up Entertainment, he is also building a network of individuals who desire to grow financially as well as spiritually.
