Asian-American emo artist Darro has released the music video for his latest single, “Signing Out.” Directed by Darro himself with collaborators Mike Monto (Burning Wick Studios) and Andrew Froening, the video is a satirical depiction of the night in 2017 when Darro was diagnosed with a brain tumor. “The night that I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, I was told that it might be cancer,” shares Darro. “All the blood drained from my face and I felt my soul leave my body. I didn’t hear anything else except my heart beating in my throat. And even though it turned out not to be cancer, the feeling of losing my grip on reality has never left my memory. ‘Signing Out’ gives you a look into how I experienced that night, but not without some punk satire.”
He continues, “This video production was some of the most fun we’ve ever had on set. The part where the doctors started dancing at the end was totally improvised, but I think adds a necessary dose of humor to an otherwise dark story. Working with these guys is a real treat, and our ideas seem to bounce off of one another really well. We’ve already started pre-production for the next video and I think it might be even better.”
