Why brick toys?

As we all know, it is very important what kind of toys we choose for our children, because it may help them develop some new skills or not. Many parents opt to give their kids some stuffed toys to play with, but these would not give them a chance to do something, to create other objects using their own imagination.

On the other hand, brick toys are particularly instructive due to the fact that they are made to be the pieces of a whole new object. They are usually made of wood or they can be made of plastic, like the model that the company LEGO decided to create. Children that play with these toys can achieve skills that they could use in the future for more important goals. They can develop high coordination between eyes and hands, they are more creative and an improvement regarding their motor and language skills can be seen.

However, there are some companies that produce brick toys, the most famous is LEGO, nowadays many people refer to these toys directly as “Lego”. This company started in the 30s, but at that time it was not great, and it really took off a couple of years later. In the beginning, there were just simple bricks made to build something, but now LEGO has arrived at a point where they make different sizes and shapes. They also make mini-figures for all kinds of sets, an example is the “Farm Lego”, they make people, animals and food figures so that they can be used in the farm.

There is also the “Lincoln Logs” company that was initiated in 1916, but it has not been as successful as LEGO. The toys that they produce are made of wood and are a bigger size than the normal Lego. Another company that is 30 years since it has been on the market is called “Mega Blocks” and they make plastic bricks for children of every age because they are easy to grip. These kinds of blocks are usually made for little children because they are not as complex as some other brick toys that we will see further.

It is time now to talk about other benefits that Lego can bring us. Lego is not made just for kids, it is known that adults can make art pieces out of them. If we consider Lego as a tool, we can create everything that we want, we can create real-life things but in a smaller dimension, and of course, we can let our imagination run free. It is fascinating how out of some toys you can make something greater and how the human brain works when you do that.

There is something that may be better than Lego, a new type of brick toy that a Japanese company has made and that is called “nanoblock ”. These blocks are quite small, but you can create many things and real-life figures out of them. Due to their size, the result is quite satisfactory, and it is not that sustainable, so you can use your imagination to create something to decorate your room or even your house. This is often a perfect hobby for people that like to build things and that want to challenge themselves to make something spectacular out of these nano blocks. There are many sets of Nanoblocks, most of them include Disney characters, real-life structures like the “Titanic”, “Statue of Liberty ”, “Taj Mahal”. You can also find the Pokemon nanoblock collection, which includes characters from the Pokemon series, two of the characters that you can find are Pikachu and Squirtle.

To sum up, brick toys are useful in many ways and not just for children, they can be useful for an adult too. The skills that children develop while making something out of Lego are very important, they could make out a career in the future. They can also mature skills in maths and further engineering skills too, due to the complexity of what they can create with blocks. On the other hand, adults can make a hobby out of this and keep their imagination alive by making figurines and all sorts of objects and they could keep improving their own skills.
