INTERVIEW: Serbian Trance & Progressive House Producer Vintage & Morelli & Singer Songwriter Arielle Maren

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We’ve been great, despite the craziness that’s happening in the world right now. We’re keeping sane by focusing on wrapping up our collaborative album, due to release July 16th. We’re super excited to showcase to the world all that we’ve been working on!

Can you tell us more about your latest single “Valley Of Hope”?

“Valley of Hope” is a song inspired by our connectivity to all of life in its various forms. We tend to get so engulfed in our own daily problems, that we forget that we’re a part of something truly magnificent. Mother Earth reminds us that we’re all intertwined with the divine.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Most definitely! With the current global pandemic we are all facing, the world seems to be in a constant state of panic and stress. “Valley of Hope” was written to remind us all to return to nature, breathe and reset our mindsets. With a little positivity and hope, we can get through these difficult times for the better.

Will we be seeing you perform your new songs live anywhere soon?

It all really depends on if and when the Covid-19 sanctions will start to lift.

The single comes off your new album The Light – what’s the story behind the title?

The whole album is interwoven with the constant play between light and darkness. From darker topics like death and depression, to lighter aspects of hope and love, the album really takes our listeners on a journey through the spectrum of light.

How was the recording and writing process?

It’s been such a fantastic experience collaborating together on such a large project! As we really understand each other, not only as artists but as best friends, it’s made the entire process a lot of creative fun! We really enjoy feeding and playing off each other’s ideas.

What role does Serbia play in your music?

From the country’s rich history to the dynamic landscape, everything this place has to offer has had an impact on our music.

You are both known for working with other notable people – do you tend to take a different approach when collaborating with someone else rather than working between the two of you?

You always have to have a certain degree of professionalism when collaborating with other artists in the industry. What makes our dynamic really interesting and pushes us to better ourselves is the fact that we are so comfortable with each other, that we can simply call it out like it is with no filter. For instance, if something is lacking, we can just say it as it is, without feeling the need to sugar-coat or wrap up the message in a pretty little bow. We can speak frankly and freely, and no feelings get hurt.

How do your different backgrounds influence this new project?

It’s almost as if the east meets the west, and two worlds collide in the best way possible. Arielle has a keen ability to capture a feeling through the use of the lyrics chosen and inflection of her voice, while Marko understands how to enhance the mood by building the ethereal foreground. We just naturally build bridges in our different approaches together.

Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics usually?

As I feel like I’ve already lived many lives thus far (from living in numerous countries throughout Europe and different states in the US, to travelling to exotic destinations), nothing tells a story better than personal experience. When it comes directly from the heart and soul, you can simply feel that come across in the lyrics and music.

What else is happening next in Vintage & Morelli and Arielle Maren’s world?

We have some additional collaborative singles that will be released outside of the album. Until that time, we can agree that we are both deserving and in need of a holiday! It’s time to relax a little and enjoy the fruits of our labour. Thank you so very much for having us on VENTS! We’re really excited to bring in the summer with you all this July 16th, when our album drops!
