Hi Mike, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey! Been pretty good. Just traveling a bunch while trying to stay present in this crazy life. Super stoked for my new single to come out as well.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “What Love Is”?
“What Love Is” is a song I wrote after a pretty volatile relationship. Things had been bad for some time, and we were both losing ourselves in the disfunction of the relationship. The song is pretty much acknowledging that we all know what love is, and when we’ve grown so far from it, it’s time to make a change.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Just remembering the feeling of hating who I was becoming in this relationship and wanting something better for myself.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
Yea, the video is dropping June 17th.
How was the recording and writing process?
I do the writing by myself, usually with an acoustic guitar or a keyboard with me. Later it was produced with Blou Productions, which was a pretty fun and streamline process.
What role does Nashville play in your music?
Nashville has tons of talent in all genres of music, I feel whenever I need a little inspiration it’s always 5 to 10 minutes away.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yea, there are a few singles being released that will follow the release of “What Love Is.” They were produced by the same crew, and I’m equally as stoked about how they come out, if not even more so.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
“What Love Is” will be released June 4th and a video on June 17th. The other singles release dates are TBA. There will be a follow up with a Self-Titled EP release.
What aspect of relationships will you get to explore on this record?
All sorts of relationships really. Relationships with the daily grind, relationships with our planet, and relationships in the more traditional use of the word as well.
What else is happening next in Mike Mineo’s world?
More music, more growth, and more audience, hopefully. Thanks VENTS!
