Hi Camo, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
A: I’ve been extremely well as of late. As a matter of fact, I’m “Happier than I’ve Ever Been”!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Already Famous”?
A: Sure! I’m always open to discuss songs I’m passionate about!
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
A: The inspiration for “Already Famous” comes from my heart. Society attempts to make us feel inadequate if we don’t meet certain criteria. I chose to address a few “qualifications” necessary for a woman to be a star in this song. You have to alter everything about yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually to be “Famous”. I feel Alicia Keys took a huge step in ditching the makeup. I wanted everyone to know your morals and values do not have to be compromised to be “Already Famous”!
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
A: The “Already Famous” video is as complex as the song. Credit Michael Mauldin and the team at 2475 Atville Entertainment on bringing my vision to light. Everyone in this video is “Already Famous” in their own right. Its diversity is what makes it special. It’s not a uniformed group of nearly nude ladies and chiseled stomach hunks. It’s more of your hard-working Average Joe’s that come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Anyone who watches my video should feel that they too could have jumped right on in and been “Already Famous” as well!
Why naming the album after this song in particular?
A: It was only right to title this EP “Already Famous”. All of my music tells a story. “Already Famous” is the beginning chapter of this book. This song made it to where people actually valued my input on a larger scale. I became famous once I realized I was “Already Famous” to begin with!
How was the recording and writing process?
A: After making a song for my social problems class while attending Pellissippi State Community College, I was challenged by a friend and former football teammate to make music again. He listened to the song I did for the class and wanted to hear more from me. While working my third shift (and often time first shift) job as a behavior support specialist I began scouring the internet for a beat that really caught my ear. I knew it was the one because I was hooked from the very first note. I then began to write. The same type of values I attempted to instill in those I have helped bled onto sheets of paper in song form. It took me nearly 1 month of recitation before I was satisfied with what I wrote and my delivery.
What role does Knoxville play in your music?
A: Knoxville plays a major role in my music. It’s the heart of East Tennessee. This is Volunteer country and it’s time we show the world (again) that this is a great place to be. Here in good old “Rocky Top”!
What aspect of fame did you get to explore on this record?
A: “Already Famous” touches several aspects of what one would assume makes them a star in other’s eyes. Cosmetics may appear to be the focus but when listening you can also hear how I challenge economic expectations as well. I’ve seen too many lives lost to a grave or a cage as people try to get rich quickly. I want everyone to feel like they are “Already” rich on the inside. Once you feel that way about yourself your dreams will come true. Just like mine.
Where else did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
A: Other inspirations came from my kids. The two I created, as well as the hundreds I have mentored. I learned that they were teaching me just as much as I felt I was teaching them. I learned to use better language. I learned to find something to smile about every day. I learned to make lemonade outta lemons. I couldn’t tell them to believe in themselves until I started modeling what I preached.
What else is happening next in Camo Brian’s world?
A: As the country continues to open up more, I plan to take this message on the road. Dates are being booked at a fast pace. Everyone feels “FAMOUS”, no matter your shape, color, or background after a Camo Brian concert! 😁🙏🏾
