Hi Cotter, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I’ve been great, thank you for asking and thank you for having me here to talk about the new single!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Good For Me”?
“Good For Me” is set to be released on Friday, June 4th. To me it’s a feel-good song definitely targeted for a summer release
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I actually didn’t have a hand in writing this song. It is written by Hunter Phelps and Arlis Albritton, two amazing songwriters here in Nashville. This song was pitched to me along with a few others. This song stood out to me the most because of its feel-good vibes, and it’s a song I feel that everyone including myself can relate to. We’ve all had those moments and days in our lives that we just need to get out and get away because it is best for us.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
It was definitely an experience I haven’t had before. At first, I was a little nervous but after that passed it was probably one of the more fun experiences I’ve had while making music.
Why naming the album after this song in particular?
I feel like naming the album after the leading single made more sense because this song really shows the style of music I love creating and who I am as an artist and the direction I am going musically.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was one I will never forget like I said previously. I didn’t get to have a hand in writing this song. But the recording process was amazing. I had the opportunity to work with some great people and musicians and build an incredible team and it’s also really special to me because my band actually wrote the parts and got to record every bit of the music on this song and the songs to come.
What role does Nashville play in your music?
Living in Nashville has helped me meet people who believe in me and my music and has helped me grow and become a better artist. The things I’ve learned since I’ve lived here will stay with me the rest of my life. This town has played a huge role in my personal development to who I am as an artist and has also blessed me with some amazing friendships.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
I try to find inspiration for my writing through real-life situations whether it be my own or someone else’s. I love to write songs that tell a true story.
What else is happening next in Cotter Hill’s world?
Next for me, I’ll be touring to get this new single and all the new music out to new listeners and fans. Then we are going to release another single following this release that will be followed up by The EP which will be titled “Good For Me”
