Hi, Mr. Connor. Welcome to Ventsmagazine. How are you doing?
Hello and thank you for having me. I am doing great!
If you had to choose one from an actor, athlete, and writer. Which one would you choose?
I don’t really want to have to choose between any of them! I enjoy acting and becoming other characters. I like to write because I want to create those different characters that I have in my head. As for my tennis, it has been my passion since I was little so I don’t want to give that up! I feel as if these all go together so well that I won’t have to choose!
What is your biggest achievement in your professional life?
As of now, my biggest achievement is winning the Young Entertainer Award for my lead role in the short film “Jingle Trails” now streaming on Amazon. I am proud of my work on that film and enjoyed working with the director Neil D’Monte.
Who do you admire the most in the entertainment industry?
I would have to say George Lucas is the person I most admire in the entertainment industry. He created a little film called Star Wars and everyone told him it would not be good yet he stuck to his vision and it became one of the biggest films in history and certainly the biggest franchise of all time! He didn’t let negative comments get in the way of his film making and because of his perseverance he changed the film industry forever.
What is your advice to youngsters who are looking to follow the same career as you?
I say work hard and don’t give up. There are a lot of people who will tell you “no” or try to crush your dreams, but you can’t let people do that if you want to succeed. Believe in yourself and you can succeed.
What’s the biggest hurdle have you ever faced in your life?
I think the biggest hurdle I have faced is when I broke my elbow a few years ago. It was right at the end of my Freshman high school tennis season and it sidelined me for about 7 months. The doctor told me that I would be lucky to be able to play recreational tennis but would probably never play competitive tennis again. I didn’t listen. My parents found a good physical therapist, I worked hard on my rehab, and came back playing tennis better than ever before. I learned if you want something bad enough you can make it happen.
Why did you choose to be a writer?
I wanted to be able to make something that I enjoy and create characters and a world I can call my own. I don’t want to rely on other people to create projects for me. I want to create them myself and be proud of them.
What’s your future project?
I am working on finishing a script for a horror film. Once it’s done I hope to either pitch it to a studio or produce it myself under the production company I have with my brother called Penny Arcade Films.
