Can you talk to me more about your latest single “Bounce Back”?

“Bounce Back” is the foundation to just keep living. Millions of people have bounced back from this deadly virus and other obstacles in their lives, and “Bounce Back” is about when life throws you challenges and whether it’s health, financial, relationship problems – you can resolve and bounce back to move forward.

What inspired you to write the song?

I was inspired to write the song after hearing the phrase in different aspects of life while growing up in Oklahoma, and also more recently hearing “Bounce Back” mentioned in comeback stories in sports on television very frequently. An individual whose personal story inspired me to write this song was Merle Haggard, my producer. He bounced back from lung surgery in 2008 and went on to live 8 years after that. This song is dedicated to him.

Any plans to release any sort of video for this track?

Yes, at least some form of video soon. Stay tuned for more!

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing and recording process was very fun. We recorded the song in Los Angeles area near Newport Beach. I worked with the esteemed Eddie Galan, who has produced music for major movies in Hollywood, like High School Musical and Bring It On: In It To Win It. It was such an honor to work with him!

Any tentative upcoming release dates or titles in mind?

My new single is “Comeback” and you can hear it everywhere on June 3. Excited to have this song out in the world.

With your previous album being among the finest final work of a legend – does that put any pressure on you as you work on new material?

Yes it does, and I’ve been thinking about this recently. With each song that I release with Merle not here, I definitely feel a pressure to honor him and his legacy. Every day is a new day for us to learn and grow in everything that we do. And like Merle told everyone in his last years, “I’m an aspiring musician.” He was always striving to be better and do great things every step of the way, and he was a huge inspiration to me.

What else is happening in Amy Jack’s world?

For now I’m balancing everything while getting my music heard, and writing new songs to share!
