Camping season is almost upon us. It is time to start knocking the dust off of all of your camping gear. Go ahead and start working to check off everything on the list of supplies that you need to purchase to be ready to make memories with your loved ones in the woods this year.
You will want to make sure that you have great lighting options for you and your loved ones while camping. While a fire will be helpful to light your campsite in most situations, you need to be prepared with an option in case it is storming. You will not want to have to try to go to the bathroom in the dark in the woods.
Make Sure that You can See at Night
When you are getting ready to go camping you must have flashlights and lighting options or you will find yourself literally in the dark. You will not want to go on a camping adventure without at least one light source. You will need a light in the middle of the night if you have to go to the bathroom or want to find out what that noise is off in the distance.
Great Lighting Options for Your Campsite
- Solar Rechargeable Light Bulb
Solar is always a great option when you are camping. These light bulbs are lightweight and easy to pack into your backpack. You can even hang them on the outside of your bag as you are hiking so that it can charge in the sun while you are traveling to your campsite.
- Head Lamps
This is another great option when you are camping or backpacking. It is essentially a flashlight attached to a band that you wrap around your head. It is easy to keep it with you and comes in handy if you need to get up in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom.
Candles will always work in a pinch and do not require any kind of electrical source. Matches and candles are both lightweight, but if you get either wet you are out of luck. This is a great item to have in your emergency kit just in case but you would not want this to be your main light source.
- Electric Lantern
This option will work great for camping, but it is not ideal if you are planning to backpack. Electric lanterns will add a good bit of weight to your pack and if you backpack you know that every ounce counts.
- Gas Lantern
Since any type of lantern is going to have some weight to it, you are not going to want to choose this light source if you are planning on backpacking to your campsite. It is however a decent choice for a campsite. You can use it to illuminate a lodge space.
Make Sure that You are not Left in the Dark
Now is the time to purchase some great lighting options for camping this season. Remember if you plan to backpack as well you will want to make sure that you only choose the lightweight options. Solar power is always a smart choice because you do not have to keep up with batteries or any other source of energy to use this type of light.
Gas & electric lanterns both provide a large amount of light and are great to hang in your campsite to help everyone be able to see. Headlamps are great hands-free options and you will be glad you went ahead and bought one the first time that you have to pee in the middle of the night. Go ahead and purchase all the light sources you need so that you do not end up in the dark.
