Los Angeles-based hip-hop artist MoThoro sets out to inspire others to believe that success may be closer than they think. He shares this message in his latest release “HOW TO BE A PLAYER,” which Vents Magazine is happy to premiere today.
Produced by CeeHud, this mellow hip-hop track is the California native’s second single off his long-awaited album, Now or Never, set for release on July 16th, 2021. Using examples from the artist’s own life, “HOW TO BE A PLAYER” encourages listeners to strive for success and aim for the stars.
When asked about the inspiration behind the single, the west coast rapper says “as soon as Ceehudd sent me the beat, I started humming the melody and I definitely knew the lyrics had to be fun and centered around the energy I expected going outside post-quarantine in the summer. The song is basically me poppin my sh*t then handing it off to Rep (rapper RepXL is featured on the track) to finish the job.”
No stranger to success, as a teenager the burgeoning rapper became an internet viral sensation after his freestyle gained traction and was chosen by notable hip-hop website WorldStarHipHop as “Youth Talent of the Week.” It was after that moment, MoThoro began to aggressively pursue his dreams. Now, as co-founder of his own record label, LFTFLD, he is able to provide assistance to fellow artists in pursuit of their passions.
When asked about the accompanying music video, the rapper explains “we actually weren’t going to do a video for this song. Then one day I was playing the song in the studio and my boy said ‘this that sh*t, this one needs a video.’ Then boom! Everything after that was just good energy and came together super organic.”
Tune in and let the multi-talented MoThoro teach us all “HOW TO BE A PLAYER.”
