Los Angeles-based emerging pop artist Olivia Soli and VENTS are teaming up for the release of “Boy Bye.” It’s her debut single but it hits like an offering from an established pop sensation. The song is highlighted by her dynamic, perfect-pitched and polished vocals. It all makes complete sense. She’s been sharpening her musical abilities since the age of four, starting with piano and then immersing herself in vocal training.
The song provides insight into her own experiences with the dating game. “The inspiration for ‘Boy Bye’ is drawn from situations where ‘the thrill is in the chase,’” says Olivia. “Meaning, as soon as the boy thinks he has a hold on you, he is suddenly not interested. As soon as he sees us girls thriving and enjoying life without him, he wants to crawl back.”
Being a native of Los Angeles, Olivia has deep insider knowledge of the city’s pros and cons in terms of how they can affect an artist. “This city can have a magical magnetic energy or simply a toxic lifestyle,” shares Olivia. “The pros of being an artist in L.A. is the connections you make and being surrounded with like-minded people who are searching for the same thing. There is so much art and culture in L.A. it can be an amazing outlet for creativity. The cons of being an artist in Los Angeles is feeling like a small fish in a big pond. Artists from all around the world come here to pursue the exact dream and sometimes that can be discouraging to artists.”
Finding strong inspiration and influence from artists like Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin and Beyoncé, Olivia has not let the troubles of the city bring her down. “I draw so much inspiration from these powerful artists as they display the heart and soul of music in my eyes,” says Olivia.
