“She Don’t Know” is the newest single by the New York based group, The Jones Title. The song itself is almost as peripatetic as the band’s influences and approach to songwriting. Even more remarkable is that the piece manages to be catchier than you initially expect it to be. This is not by accident, as The Jones Title are quite candid with their artistic intentions. A lot of times, such proclaims can turn out to be hyperbole, but not so, in this case.

Formed in 2018, The Jones Title is best described as an Adult Alternative band, with some retroactive elements. “She Don’t Know” is from their forthcoming debut album, Birkenhead Drill. The band describes their music as a combination of clever lyrics, humor, and a lot of Rock and Roll. That description seems like an attempt to clarify some of the groups more quirky qualities, than anything else. Based on “She Don’t Know,” The Jones Title comes across as more of a hybrid of The Fray and Train.
She don’t know about love/just a story she was told she when she was young/it was told, and told, and told/until it stuck. “She Don’t Know,” tells the story of a woman, who prefers single serving portions of intimacy, and is of course, narrated by one of the men who readily obliges this preference. One of the questions the song poses, is whether she truly desires this lifestyle, or if it’s all she knows. TJT says the song is essentially about a desperate search for connection in a world that seems devoid of meaningful ones, anymore. We crave physical touch, but without the responsibility of commitment, or perhaps, mere consistency.
Musically, is where The Jones Title, really shines. Their balancing is especially impressive, particularly when it comes to the guitar. The guitar puts the Rock and Roll in TJT, which is generally the case of course. However , the reverberation and effect they get from a grungy, distorted guitar, that is so subtly placed in the mix, you almost miss it, is indicative of crafty studio work. The vocals are a stand out as well, as they build into a glorious and emotionally pressed crescendo, by the final chorus.

I honestly, cannot put my stamp of approval on “She Don’t Know,” in bold enough ink. It is a song that is tailor made for radio, and you are kind of left scratching your head, over how The Jones Title aren’t a household name by this point. The songwriting displayed in this song alone, is enough to convince you of the superior talent, these musicians posses. A quick look at their social media outlets, was equally shocking, as they don’t yet have thousands of followers. This could be all about to change, because when it comes to The Jones Title, you should know.
