Just writing the above headline gave this yellow journalist goosebumps and tickled every cheesy bone in my body, Dear and Constant Readers. Just imagine: The man behind such classic ghost-hunting bromides as “You wanted us…You got us!” and “Dude, bro bro dude bro did yo- BROBROBROBRODUDE” and the silver screen director who has elevated the art of cinema with such offerings as Knock Knock and Hostel: Part II, teaming up to combine their talents into…Well, what exactly? Luckily, we have our ghoulish fiends over at Bloody Disgusting News to fill all of us in on the gore-ious details. Read on Ladies and Gents – if you dare.
Discovery+ is apparently all-in on the paranormal reality gravy train as is evidenced by the news that two masters in their respective fields – Eli Roth in the world of film, Zak Bagans in the graveyard that is paranormal research – will be teaming up for the upcoming new Discovery+ ongoing series The Haunted Museum.
The Haunted Museum will consist of a two hour premiere episode, followed by eight one hour episodes and is set to take a close look at the paranormal museum that Bagans owns in Las Vegas by going into the individual stories of the many haunted and cursed items that are said to reside within the walls. Each spotlighted item will have its story told through actual scripted vignettes which will be produced by Roth and his band of gremlins. Bagans will provide narration and commentary in each episode, offering up his five cents worth on the many strange goings-on at his haunted museum.
In a press release for The Haunted Museum, a nameless Discovery+ Samaritan elaborated on what viewers can expect with the new series: “Bagans’ extensive collectibles, numbering in the thousands, are exhibited across the 30-room, 14,000 square-foot mansion, and span from paranormal legends and true crime to Hollywood pop culture and haunted history…Bagans shares the secrets and stories behind a curated selection of his most prized haunted items, including the Dybbuk Box, a carved wooden statue owned by actor Steve McQueen, the Westerfeld dollhouse, actor Bela Lugosi’s mirror, the Devil’s Rocking Chair and more. Complementing Bagans’ testimony, each object’s backstory is retold via its own mini horror film, scripted and produced in collaboration with Roth.”
But what of Zak’s cohorts and assistants in his Ghost Adventures capers, Aaron, Billy and Jay; will they be on hand to dole out the cheese platters for television viewers? Eli Roth doesn’t have any light to shed on any of that, but – in best P.T. Barnum style – he does want you to know that The Haunted Museum is going to kick some spectral ass, as per his press release on the new series: “What I love most is that the objects are all real and that people can go and see them if they dare. Zak opened the vault to us to pick the scariest and most fascinating variety of objects, and we have an amazing team of filmmakers bringing these stories to life. The show will not be for the faint of heart. Some people have nightmares simply looking at photos of the objects, and now we will be able to tell the stories of how these objects came to be possessed by something truly frightening.”
Zak Bagans and Eli Roth’s Haunted Museum can be seen scaring up chills on Discovery+ later on in 2021.
