After releasing his first five projects, traditional hip-hop artist Jgriff decided to take a different route when bringing his first full-length album to life. Having spent years dancing around his insecurities, such as melodic singing and genre-blending, he wanted to dive into his fear and outside of his comfort zone. The final result- a 20 track LP that shaped his artistry and gave him the confidence to push even further in his journey as a musician. The album, titled Nothing. Nowhere. is rumored to drop in late summer 2021.
Leading up to the final reveal, we can expect the release of six stand-out singles- two of which have already debuted and can be found on all streaming platforms. The first track, titled Sorry, Not Sorry, is an unapologetic and rebellious anthem about a surprising night where friendships got a little… erm, closer, if you will. The track, carrying a solid 2000’s feel with a modern delivery, has a strong melody that will stay on repeat in your mind long after the song ends- particularly for those who will always recall that one night out they wanted to last forever as they listen. The single was also accompanied by an energetic, nostalgic music video with visuals that fully earned a pop-punk stamp of approval.
The follow-up single, titled SOS, is also one to watch- with a hook that will make you want to scream along and beautifully contrasting vocals between Jgriff and featured artist, Lina Nicole, you may just find yourself adding a new song to your On-Repeat playlist. The track takes a punchy approach to addressing feelings of self-doubt and isolation, themes that many listeners will find relatable- wrapped up in a melody that all listeners will find irresistible.
With two incredibly successful tracks from the project already circulating- combined with the excitement of a sound we’ve not heard from Jgriff in the past- it’s fair to say fans both true
and new are waiting anxiously for the release of Nothing, Nowhere. If Sorry, Not Sorry and SOS are any insight into the content we can expect from the LP later this summer, it appears listeners are in for a real treat. Jgriff still has four more singles coming your way to continue shedding light on the surprising, unpredictable album leading up to its big release. Let the countdown begin.
