BARISTA is an Istanbul-based Rock project that is able to blur the lines between authentic classic rock and mystic alternative music, all while mixing some psychedelic vibrations in the newest album “Open Sesame Vol 1: Her Dress”.
This album is so expansive that it needs to be released in 5 volumes. Yes, 5 volumes! Although they freely experiment in their music, all roads will always lead back to Rock.
Rock and Roll is not dead and is still the focal point.
Barista says, “I am not targeting a specific audience or looking for tangible commercial success, all I want is for people to be aware of the existence of this album. I am aware that it is not in compliance with the current trends, but I also know there are many people like me out there who miss hearing music with body.”
It’s actually pretty synchronizing to listen to this album. There’s also the mix, which is unusually lucid and precisely bass heavy. The abundance of acoustic guitars are not drowned out by the electric ones, the drumming is distinct, and the overall effect is a robustness of sonic energy that’s more vociferous than most albums are.
“Disco Sun”, the third track in the collection, is a bona fide hit. It’s the one in which the female vocalist initially appears on the album and which Siebenberg busts out the wah wahs with just a hint of distortion to keep things edgy.
All this being said, I don’t think we can possibly wait any longer for the rest of the volumes!
