Beloved by “Community” Fans, Gillian Jacobs Graduates to Feature Films in Upcoming “Any Other Night”

If you’re a fan of NBC’s perennial underdog series Community (and come on, who isn’t?), one of the nicest things to come out of that deliriously awesome show was the influx of new talent that emerged from its 110 blue ribbon winning episodes: Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Danny Puddi and Gillian Jacobs were standouts among a cast full of standouts (lookin’ at you here Chevy Chase, Joel McHale and Yvette Nicole Brown). Since the show went off the air back in 2015, each of these cast-mates have gone on to do some truly outstanding work, among them Gillian Jacobs who has been seen to good effect in television projects such as Weird City and Life of the Party. But, as with her character in Community, it seems as if the actress now and forevermore known as Britta Perry has graduated – to feature films, that is!

According to our guidance counselor’s over at the always overachieving Variety, Gillian Jacobs has been tapped to star in the upcoming XYZ Films production of Any Other Night alongside Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin).

Any Other Night is a comedy about two complete strangers Jacobs and Kenzari) who happen upon one another just as their lives are falling into a shambles. Quicker than you can say “meet cute”, the two fall hopelessly in love in best rom-com fashion.

Directing Any Other Night is Dutch visionary Michiel Ten Horn who will be making his English-language debut with the film. In a press release, Ten Horn said that “I’m just so happy to be working with Gillian and Marwan on this film. Gillian has obviously honed such smart, sharp comic timing. Marwan brings an incredible on-camera presence, intense but likeable. This film is a chance to see them both in a new light, something a little different than audiences may expect. It’s exciting. Their energy together is undeniable.”

Any Other Night was written by Patrick Whistler of Creeped Out and Dreamland fame and is produced by Mike MacMillan and Sol Bondy. XYZ Films very own Todd Brown will be handling Executive Producing chores while XYZ will be in charge of sales.

“We can’t wait to see Michiel, Gillian and Marwan bring this world to life,” MacMillan said in a press release. “After such a difficult year for everyone, it feels like we need to laugh, to remember travel, to fall in love. It feels like perfect timing for Any Other Night.”
