INTERVIEW: Callie Twisselman

Hi Callie, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I have been pretty darn great! Even through all these crazy times. I’m just excited to be releasing music and put some positivity out into the world!

Can you talk to us more about your new single, “Two Hands”?

Two Hands is just a fun, upbeat feel good song. It’s about a girl who is unapologetically herself and even though she can be a handful at times, her man loves her just the way she is. So many women and men in relationships can relate to it!

Did any event in particular inspire you to release this song?

I felt like this song would be the perfect first release because it’s fun and positive and I think people really need that uplifting, mood boosting type song right now. And also it just describes me to a T. With or without a man I’m one of those girls who is unapologetically herself. I like having a drink and I may or may not have lost my keys and needed them replaced three times in a two month period…

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

There are definitely plans to release a music video! It’s still in the works but I’m very excited for this video!

How was the recording process?

The recording process was a blast! My producer Aaron Pearce makes things so easy and fun in the studio and I just know that he’s gonna work his magic every time! I wasn’t stressed or worried at all going into the studio with this one, it was pretty smooth sailing.

What role does California play in your music?

The role California plays in my music is definitely the country part of California, not the city that people normally think of. It’s where I’m from and where I’ve gotten a lot of inspiration for my music.

How did your experience being raised on a ranch influence not only your music but yourself as an artist?

Being raised on a ranch influenced my music and me as an artist because not only did I grow up on country music, I grew up riding horses, helping my dad on the ranch feeding cows, fixing fences and just all of the duties of being a rancher’s daughter. I was taught hard work at an early age and not to take bs from no one, and I believe that’s what a lot of country music is made of. That upbringing definitely shaped the way I sing and write songs and the stories I tell in those songs.

Does the new single mean we can expect more music from you in 2021? If so, how’s that coming along?

Yes! There will definitely be more music following “Two Hands”. So be on the lookout for that soon!

What else is happening next in Callie Twisselman’s world?

ᐧWhat else is happening next in my world, well I’m pretty busy prepping for all this new music coming out. And I’m hoping to be planning some touring by the end of the year. On a non music note, I’m also on maid of honor duties lately cause my sister is getting married in June! But other than that I’ll be writing more new music and helping out back home on the ranch when I can.
