Hi Sour, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey everyone! I’ve been doing great, thank you.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Can’t Live Without You”?
Totally! This song is the product of an online collaboration with KAESE. When I heard the initial idea I instantly knew the direction and elements it needed to get to the finish line. I offered KAESE to develop it to which he agreed and sent the stems. After just around a week or so, I had the final result you can hear now.
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
I think that the melodies and chord progression’s variation you can hear (especially towards the end) were heavily inspired by the Halloween season. I think I might’ve channeled the dark and spooky vibe and combined it with the melancholic and chill vibe I like.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
Nothing confirmed yet, would love to see one though!
How were the recording and writing process?
I had so much fun with it, especially since I wasn’t biassed with previous iterations of this. As soon as I received the stems I got working on it, first polishing the bass melody, adding chord progression variations, general melodies, percussion, sound design, etc.
What was it like to work with KAESE and how did that relationship develop?
It was great! We have a good relationship now, we might have another release out soon.
How much did he get to influence the song?
A lot! He wrote the initial idea. The development of this wouldn’t have been possible without it.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?
Totally! Whenever I’m working on my own I experiment a lot, many times without a clear vision of where I want to take my ideas. When it comes to collaborations, I try to create a clear common vision with the other artists before jumping into experimentation.
What role does Mexico play in your music?
House music is very popular here, especially with younger people. That exposure has certainly influenced the music I make.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Totally! I have more music coming out later this year.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
You can expect another release within the next couple of months. Some titles of songs that will be released soon are “Forget About Me” and “Particles”.
What else is happening next in Sour’s world?
I’m working towards perfecting my sound and I feel that my latest productions are getting very cohesive. I’m thinking about maybe releasing them as an EP rather than as singles. Not sure about that yet though.
