Tips to Download Any Facebook Video

Have you ever come across a Facebook video that you’ve wanted to download only to learn that there’s no way to do this from the app? In this article, we will discuss the different options you can use to download Facebook videos so you can watch them later.

Facebook is the largest social media network in the world, with over 2.8 billion monthly active users. People from around the world use Facebook to connect with friends and family, keep up with the latest news, get a sneak peek into the life of their favorite celebrity, and more. Back in 2007, Facebook introduced video to the platform, and since then, many people have been using Facebook video as a source for entertainment. The only drawback with Facebook videos is that it isn’t straightforward for you to download them. Facebook doesn’t provide any video download links because they want you to share videos to bring more people to the platform.

Why download a Facebook video?

Some of my friends ask me why I download Facebook videos if I can access them directly on the platforms. On more occasions than I can count, I’ve seen a Facebook video that I’ve liked, and when I went back to the platform, I wasn’t able to find it again. Situations like this are frustrating because Facebook has lots of unique content that can’t be found anywhere else. Sometimes the original video author removes the video, so if you don’t back it up, you’ll lose access to it forever.

The other annoying thing about not storing a video directly on my device is that anytime I want to access it, whether it be Facebook, Instagram, or Youtube, I need to visit the website or app rather than just viewing the video locally.

Tools to download Facebook videos

Option 1:  URL Change method

The first option we will cover is the most simple and doesn’t require you to install any browser plugins or software. The URL change method works for any public video. Anytime you find a video that you want to download, you can follow the steps below.

Step 1: Log in to your Facebook account and find the video that you want to download.

Step 2: Once you’ve found the video, right-click on it and select “show video URL”. Copy the video URL to your device’s clipboard.

Step 3: Open up a new browser tab and paste the link to the video in the address bar. Prepend the word “mbasic.” to the beginning of the URL and hit enter.

Step 4: The page will load a simplified version of Facebook along with the video that you want to download. To download the video, click on the video itself, and it should open in a new tab allowing you to download it to your device.

Option 2:  Web-based downloader

Many online Facebook downloaders exist because of the lack of a video download button on Facebook. After reviewing lots of the top options out there, we recommend the Facebook video downloader by FBDownloader.net. The FBDownloader website helps people download videos from Facebook by generating direct video download links to them. There is no need to use any browser plugins or install any third-party software. Follow the few simple steps below to download Facebook videos.

Step 1: Open Facebook by launching the Facebook app or by opening the official Facebook website.

Step 2: Locate the video that you want to download and copy the link to the video. You can do this by right-clicking on the video or by tapping on the three dots in the top right corner.

Step 3: Open up Chrome, Firefox, or Safari and head over to the FBDownloader website. Paste the video URL into the box provided on the homepage and hit go.

Step 4: FBDownloader will process the Facebook link and extract the direct download links for the videos. Once the page reloads, you will have the option to download the videos in standard and high-quality mp4 format. To start the download, right-click on the download button ( long click on mobile phones ) and select “save video as”.

FBDownloader offers fast direct downloads and has a very intuitive and easy-to-use interface. Along with the typical video download options, you can also download videos as MP3 audio files, and they also support the download of private Facebook videos too. It’s a great all-around solution that works on any device and is our number one choice for downloading Facebook videos.

Option 3:  Browser plugin

For those people who are fans of browser plugins, this option is for you. There are a few different options in the chrome store for Facebook video downloader plugins. Most of the plugins that we tried failed to download any content, but one plugin that did work is an extension named DownAlbum.

DownAlbum is a chrome browser used by over 400 000 users. It allows you to download Facebook videos, photos, and albums from Facebook using just your browser. DownAlbum isn’t the most intuitive to use and has a steep learning curve, but once you’ve mastered it, it becomes pretty easy to download videos from Facebook.

Step 1: The first thing you will need to do is head over to the chrome store and Install the DownAlbum browser plugin. After installing DownAlbum, a photo icon will show up in the top right corner of the browser.

Step 2: Open up Facebook and head over to either the album, photo, or video you want to download. Once you’re on the page, wait for the DownAlbum icon in the menu bar to turn orange and click it.

Step 3: A drop-down menu will appear. Click on the “normal” button and hit okay when the confirmation appears.

Step 4: Wait for the browser plugin to load all the media from the page. This can take some time if there are lots of photos of videos to load.

Step 5: Select the items you want to download and hit CTRL+S on windows and Command+S on Mac to save the selected media to your computer.

Conclusion

Facebook might make it tricky to download videos but knowing the right tools to use can help.
