Comedy “The Exchange” Hits a Bullseye with New Home at Quiver Distribution

Quiver Distribution has been on a real roll in recent years with a veritable bevy of high-quality films released under its moniker: Crisis, Falling, Paradise City, I Am Woman, Lost Girls and Love Hotels and Time Warp Vol 1 – Midnight Madness have all seen acclaim under the guiding hand of Quiver Svengali’s Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman. The Dynamic Duo more than know their way around a promising script and have the means and, more importantly, the passion and love to find audiences for films that a lesser studio would be supremely challenged with.

Meyerowitz and Sackman have landed a new feather for their colorful portfolio of movies with the acquisition of U.S. rights to the much-buzzed about comedy from the co-creator of Bruno entitled The Exchange, according to our plumage counting fellow reporters at Variety.

The Dan Mazer (Dirty Grandpa) directed The Exchange is about a socially inept yet very enterprising teen that lands upon a decision to procure a “mail-order” friend. While hoping for the bestest in sophistication (see Cary Grant), the awkward adolescent winds up with his worst nightmare (see Jim Varney mixed with Randy Quaid’s Cousin Eddie). The salt in the wound for our hapless hero is also The Exchange’s true hook: Said flotsam and jetsam turns into a local hero. The cast of The Exchange includes acting stalwarts Justin Hartley (Smallville), Jennifer Irwin (Eastbound & Down), Avan Jogia (Twisted) and Ed Oxenbould (The Visit). Reportedly, The Exchange is based off of the high school experiences of the script’s writer Tim Long which makes this reporter wonder if we may have survived the same public school system…

In a press release announcing the plum acquisition of The Exchange, Quiver Distribution magnates Meyerowitz and Sackman said that “Dan, Tim and the entire cast have created a laugh-out loud comedy that audiences will unquestionably go crazy for.” Hey, that’s good enough for us!

The Exchange was first announced back in pre-pandemic April of 2019 and shot in Canada over the ensuing months. Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman served as executive producers on the production.
