#2 River Market
This neighborhood is known as the home of the Midwest’s largest Farmer’s Market. This revitalized neighborhood is populated by mainly young couples in their early twenties or early thirties. The entire neighborhood covers a bit less than four square miles, including the Italian neighborhood in Columbus Park.
#3 Westside
This is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Kansas City, with increasingly diverse architecture as well. There is a significant presence of third and fourth-generation Mexican-American families. The average Westside resident is in their late 20s or early 30s. Third of all residents are married, whereas around 20% of the married couples are with children. Two-thirds of the female residents and one-third of the male residents work in sales or service/office positions.
#4 Westport
Westport is located north of the Country Club Plaza and, among the locals, is known as one of the best neighborhoods for shopping, entertainment, dining, and living. In the past, it was nothing but one more outpost on the famous Santa Fe Trail. But today, it is a thriving community consisting of many long-time residents and young people who enjoy living in this quiet neighborhood. The average resident age in Westport is 34, and more than half of them hold a college degree. Approximately one-third of all women, and one-quarter of the male population, have a career in service occupations.
#5 The Country Club Plaza
The Country Club Plaza is known as the country’s oldest entertainment and shopping neighborhood. Thanks to its hand-painted mosaics, the custom ironwork, and the many fountains, it is often said that it looks like a Spanish village. There are hundreds of single homes, apartments, and condominiums in the neighborhood, mainly populated by highly-educated couples and singles.
