Indie Artist Jesus Brillo Bares His Heart in an Exclusive Interview

Music makes the world go round. It connects, liberates, and gives wings to the spirit. Today, there’s more variety than ever in the world of music. No wonder that with the incredible level of inspiration floating in the air, the number of people who dabble with music has gone up in recent years. One such individual is Jesus Brillo. Tagged as the next big thing in indie reggaetón music, Brillo spends most of his time working on his music and undertaking tasks that support his passion.

Q. Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

A. My name is Jesus Brillo and I am 24 years old. I consider myself a songwriter and interpreter of different genres of music, especially rap, reggaetón, and trap. I was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I am a multi-tasker and this has enabled me to take complete charge of my projects. I serve as the director for most of my music videos. Of course, I also write all my songs myself and as an independent artist, I am not limited by a record label or a contract.

Q. What pulled you towards music or inspired you to take it up as a career?

A. I feel as if I was born with music in my DNA. It has always been an integral part of my life. I wouldn’t be too off the mark in saying that I’ve been engaged with music in one form or another forever, except when I was forced to let go of active listening, working, and playing for four years. This dry spell started in 2016 and lasted until 2020 because of financial reasons. But I am glad to say that I am back, and ready once again to pick up the strings of my music, sew them back together, and take them to the world.

Q. Can you tell us about what’s keeping you busy these days, music and otherwise?

A.
Sure. Right now, I am busy running my two companies – Brillo Organic Investments and Brillo Center SRL. These endeavors help me fund my true passion. I am also busy raising my two children. And as far as the music scene goes, I am busier than I have ever been, working on new material and making my music, which is available on almost all online platforms.

As Jesus Brillo rekindles his love affair with music, here’s hoping that he’s able to spin magic and create what he loves.
