A rising talent, born in Metz a town next to France, Ronny Paul Song has progressed from being released by Everton Fc as a schoolboy to being signed with Huesca SD and recently playing in the BOV Premier League against the likes of Seydou Doumbia.
Ronny , after coming up the ranks at Everton you went through Morecambe Fc and SD Huesca . Today you are in Malta with Senglea. How would you assess the start of your career ?
Things are going very well at the moment , to be honest I’m quite proud of my journey so far. In my career I’ve always tried to take things step by step . As long as there’s progress I’m happy.
Everton Fc a legendary club , how did it all start ?
I was playing for my school’s football team in a cup match , we won and the following day a scout from Everton which turned out to be my sports teacher told me that the club is interested in bringing me in for trials.
I went in and after a trial match at half time I got substituted I was annoyed because I was enjoying the game . But in fact it was just to make me sign straightaway as apparently there were other clubs watching.
Did you have any Role models growing up ?
A lot of players inspired me when I was younger , the likes of Ronaldinho , Henry , Beckham and Rigobert Song plus more.

At Morecambe , you sign your first professional contract . What makes it that you did not stay there ?
It was a great experience with quality players and staff but I felt as though as captain of the U21’s I wasn’t being pushed enough into the first team.
In July 2018, You signed with Huesca Fc in LaLiga . How did you feel being part once again in one of the best leagues in football ?
For my part I was very happy, I saw it as a reward for the hard work that I put in on a daily basis since I was released by Everton as a schoolboy. I didn’t see it as a coincidence.
A historical moment for the Club , its first time in LaLiga since 1960 , difficult for a young player to get games in this scenario ?
Yes , we were fighting for survival , every game was a battle hence trusting inexperienced young players was difficult.
But at the time I was still believing that next week could be the time when I get called up. Sadly it never happened.
A sense of frustration at the end of the season not being trusted by Leo Franco
With a step back and maturity I understand the club’s position, I just feel as though in the last games when relegation was assured it was an opportunity to give place for the hungry young talented players to showcase themselves.

Today you are in the BOV Premier League making a name for yourself , how are you finding the experience?
Satisfied , I was a bit hesitant upon arrival when I heard there was interest in me , but it turned out to be a competitive league with clubs who have big aspirations.
The likes of Seydou Doumbia ( Former As Roma & Newcastle ) are coming to the BOV Premier do you feel this will help the league’s status ?
Of course he is a big player we all know his Cv , he and other players recently coming here will definitely put Malta on the football map.
Already making a name for yourself with interests from top clubs abroad would you say the turnaround has been quick ?
When I play football I feel at my best , I enjoy the game and try not to think about what goes outside or can be said. But of course it’s always flattering to be recognized especially in a season where the pandemic has highly affected match games and playing time.
What goals have you set yourself ?
To keep pushing forward , to make sure to leave an impact in the football world and give back to those who have been believing in me .
