Bizkit and Kid (from Kid ‘N Play) release the music video for their conscientious single, “Horizon”. While seemingly cheerful on the surface, the hip-hop track has a meaningful message – that amidst all the chaos and hate in the world right now, there is hope on the “Horizon”.
Bizkit and Kid first wrote “Horizon” in the middle of the global pandemic and at the brink of the Black Lives Matter movement. Being inspired by the “Twilight Zone-ish era” we are in and provoked by traumatic events, such as the more recent #StopAsianHate movement, the two felt even more urgency to release the single, hoping that the after – the future on the “Horizon” – is better than the current state of the world we are all living in.
After noticing that most songs about these issues were slow and depressing, Bizkit and Kid sought out to write a more upbeat and high-powered track that people could connect to in a more digestible way without diverging from the true subject matter or sacrificing the integrity of the song. In essence, the two wanted to give people hope and reassure them that this is all temporary, despite having four years of political distraught and societal unrest.
